Since the implementation of the QR patch, these forums have been filled top to bottom with complaints. This is a good sign. It's a sign that EVE is moving away from Easy Mode and into a new era of strategy, ingenuity and teamwork.
PVP: For too long, the easy mode for PVP was to simply be fast. 0.0 Consisted almost entirely of nano gangs and cloaking macro Ravens. Slowing the game down, after the ragequitters leave and the forums cool off, will prove to be a giant leap forward for PVP.
Reducing the effectiveness of certain classes of missiles was just a natural extension of slowing the game down. There was simply no choice but to lower their effectiveness, or no one would fly anything but Caldari in a slowed down game.
PVE: Now that CNR's aren't click and forget anymore (Missile Balancing), Mission Runners will finally need to pay attention to what they are doing, and work a little harder for the rewards. Maybe even pay attention to the screen.
Lets face it, lvl 4 mission running NPC corp dwellers simply had it too easy. All reward, no risk whatsoever with easy mode missile spam. Aside from moving all level 4 missions to low sec (bad idea) or making NPC corps war deccable (bad idea), this was a pretty good compromise for the short term.
Some people also complained that this expansion didn't have enough... expansion. "Only one new ship??" they say. I disagree with this sentiment. With the changes to signature radius, MWD, webbers and last but not least speed, a lot of ships are new all over again.
This expansion has injected a lot of new life into the game for me personally. I'm having a great time imagining what I can do with a non MWD Jaguar/Hurricane with a halo set, among other things.

Easy mode is still here... it just has a different face: simply include one of the following when you hit f1-f8... TP, web, scrambler.
Eve's NOT hard (contrary to what all the wow-haters keep telling you). If step one doesn't kill your target, bring friends who will also use step one. Together, you WILL pop the target. Eve's a simple as blobbing up and hitting your hotkeys, or warping to safety. That's it.

Saying eve is all about blobbing is a very narrowminded approach. Many players, including myself like to only fly with 1-3 people. Hardly a blob, and it does require tactics for a bunch of cruisers to kill off a BS, unless the BS pilot is a total noob that is :P

Blobbing is a tactic that's guarenteed to get kills, but it's not the only solution, and people have, through higher skill, had a k/d ratio of something like 386:91 when fighting outnumbered 250:500.
But that's somewhat rare.. and often seems to include sniper BS and the big blob not knowing how to handle them. --------- Your bad loan management perfectly strikes the stock market, wrecking for -777.68 points. Eve job list |

Easymode gatecamping of 0.0/lowsec entries was also nerfed; you can see some camper tears in river of nanoer&noob runner's tears already _____________ I don't care what is nerfed, as long as it's not my "undock" button. |

You've been one of the loudest opponents about the new patch, so it's hardly surprising to see you disagree with me, but you're dead wrong.
Yes, Battleships are no long the solopwnmobiles that they were pre expansion. That's how the game was meant to be!
Cruisers can still hit cruisers for full damage, so go get in a cruiser/HAC/BC and give the BS a rest for a while. |

If you look back enough, you'll explicitly find Oveur stating that battleships were specifically designed to be solowtfpwnmobiles.

I have to admit when i 1st tested the new changes i was in a state of rage as my megathron that i have come to love for te last 2 years has beeen crippled ( or has it really?)
When i think about it, eve was getting too predictable and did need a serious change in tactical terms.. Nanos being one heavyly used tactic and well , we all know te corps that use falcons all day long ( somting i hope is seriously looked into one day!)..
Solo pvp might be on its last legs but thats only if we let it be this way!

Edited by: Escrava Isaura on 14/11/2008 14:59:00 i dont see any big change in tactics, instead of full speed you use range, the main difference will be more warp outs to avoid death instead of just burning away to 200km.
The ones who died before will still dye, and the ones doing the killing will still be doing it

And thats why alliances with ppl like you never get to hold any 0.0 space, if you can't see there is tactics to be used you won't win a single war. Signature removed. Please do not imply profanity in your signature. Navigator

Hm, no more easymode, im having a great time imagining how I'll be able to kill with easymode.
Also, non MWD Hurricane with Halo set sucks epically, unless you have a Falcon/covops alt for scouting (since your survival rate for gatecamps is 0%), and engage solo battleships which are not a Dominix only.
Naturally, Tier 2 BCs will smoke you, and you can't tackle for **** with the 10.8km scram plus AB, and are massively vulnerable to anything which outranges you or outdamages you at range (which is everything sans blasterboats).
From a teamwork point of view, it's epically useless.
That said, epic post QR Hurricane fit, ingenious and teamworkish - requires a slaveset for max fun and games: Lows: 1600mm RT, exp/kin/therm hardener, 2x eanm II Mids: MWD, disruptor, scrambler, web Highs: 6x 220mm AC II, small neut, cynosaural field generator
Use trimarks for rigs and Warrior IIs in dronebay.
