It's been a long time since General Discussion was mostly 'discussions', and of course since the latest expansion it's been worse than usual.
I was thinking that CCP could create two new forums to clear out some of the trash from GD:
- "I Quit": All ragequit or other types of quit threads go in here. I know, the PR department is horrified at the idea of admitting that people actually leave the game; but they do you may as well face up to it and keep them quarantined. lets face it, the number of 'i quit' threads that contain anything of value is basically zero. Anyone posts a quit thread in GD gets it moved to here by the mods. No need to lock anything, just keep it in it's place.
- "This Sucks": All complaints go in here. The PR dept may have conniptions about this as well, but ask yourself this: What gives the worse impression to noobs or potential customers - The fact that the forum has a special place for complaints, or the fact that the 'general discussion' forum is a seething mass of bile and tears? I think the former is preferable. Again, the mods can move threads into this forum that are all complaint and no discussion.
If these two new forums were established and the mods were ruthless about moving threads into them, it wouldn't be long before GD was a considerably more interesting place to visit.
And the best part is this: By creating these forums, you will essentially be depriving the ragequitters and emowhiners of an audience. Eventually they would stop posting altogether because the audience is the only reason they post.
If CCP don't implement these ideas immediately I'll be cancelling my 12 accounts and telling my corp to do the same. |

This is what its usually like in there all the time about everything that goes on on Singularity. The same kinda thing turns up for the active build in the features and ideas forum enterspersed with lol suggestions and some people really making good new suggestions. You don't really need to create the this sucks forum, it should all realy just get dumped into there because it is discussion about current game mechanics. Personally though i can agree with you, it would be nice to get some more forum topics so that you don't have to sift through pages and pages of threads not related to what you clicked on or the same thing again and again.
I think if we were to be a bit more diplomatic about the new section name we could call it Active Build Discussion and ideas and just roll it all into one though.
