Scrap it.. Its the least user friendly thing I've ever seen..
However, it would be better if by just equipping the thing will show upon your target reticle how much ore remains in the Asteroid targetted, or make it such that the most recent update shows upon the scanner, sorting through a list of fifty asteriods is not the way I want to spend my time, really now, I am sure it can be done MUCH better.

It would be nice if the existing scanner which has ore types and ranges, be augmented when a survey scanner is fitted and online, with the ore quantities.
The other scanners could augment the main scanner too.

Odd.. ever since I began Asteroids have had a little name tagged by parenthesi, Asteroid (Omber) for example, the only use the scanner has for me is to show me the amount left in an asteroid, which I dont really care about.. sure I would if it was easier for me to tell which asteroid had this amount, so I could leave it to regenerate for a few days.. and not pop it like I tend to do now.

Just hover the mouse above a roid in the scanner window and the screen will point at it.

Agreed, the survey scanners could do with some UI improvements.. like splitting the scanner display box into 2 columns, "Type" and "ore" so you can sort them by name, or amount of ore remaining, however I don't think removing them is a good idea at all!
If you're only using it to see *what* is there then you may as well use the normal scanner, set to "Range" with something like 12km (Range of a Miner II) set.
However, Survey Scanners are invaluable if you are mining high end ore (Arkonor, Bistot etc) .... not all people follow this guideline, but where I come from you DO NOT pop arkonor or bistot roids, as the belt yeilds more ark/bist if you let them re-grow instead of popping and letting them respawn. In this case, it lets you know when you're getting close to empty, so you pull off and mine another roid.

The problem is, I dont want to hover my mouse over fifty asteroids, I cant right click and target the one I am after in the scanner display.. therefore I thought it would be better if it was changed, make it a passive upgrade that works when targetting instead of showing the yield of every asteroid nearby.
