Hi All
I was just doing a level 4 mission (catch the thief) I warped in blew up the only destroyer and started on the rest of the ships. The next spawn showed up and I find myself scrammed by about 8 frigates, which resulted in me sitting in my pod looking at 90 millions worth of scrap. Simple question if I had had a warp stab fitted would I of been able to warp, or was the sheer number of ships scramming me to much for one stab to make any difference? What made things even worse was the fact that I forgot to bookmark my wreck so I couldn't go back and see if I could salvage any of my fittings or rigs :) |

warp core stabilizers have a +1 , so they would counter a single strength warp scrambler (warp disruptors are +2). So by putting on a warp core stabilizer you could counter a single scrambler - but the targeting and other drawbacks they apply to your ship may make it ineffective in the mission.
I use small drones to kill the frigates in missions that are usually the ones that scramble first - so that if I need to get out I can.

Warp disruptors are the long-range warp inhibitors at 20/24km range, and only have a single point of warp disruption. The short-range warp scramblers (7.5/9km) have 2 points.
Your best option in this case is to change the way you're doing the mission. When you warp in, immediately start moving away from the warp-in point, and refrain from attacking the nearby battleship as that will bring the (very strong) reinforcements. Depending how cautious you want to be, wait for the cruisers and frigates to be in range, and destroy them; then wait until you are a good distance from the warp-in point before you destroy the 250k bounty battleship. This will put you out of range of a lot of the DPS of the spawn, and let you whittle it down from relative safety.
And in all cases of level 4 missions, take out scrambling frigates first (unless you're very sure of your ability to tank full damage from the rats)! They always have recognisable names as they are the "elite" frigates. Once you've removed all scramblers, you'll always be able to simply warp out if you do get in trouble. |

Thanks for the info Gartel. To be honest, I was lulled into a false sense of security as this was only my second level 4. My first one was angle extravaganza last night and my shields never got below about 75% so I stupidly thought this wouldn't be much different ha ha. Anywho I'm off to Jita to buy a replacement. I really must think about joining a corp. Thanks again |

NPCs scramble with +2 and last I heared they do not stack. Anyway, if it comes to NPCs being scrambled should never be a problem for you. You can be stuck on a structure and then no WCS will save you. Bring the right tank or don't go there. |

2 other things to keep in mind:
1) a few months back (probably the empyrean age release but I don't remember) they added the handy little scram/web icons to the far right of the overview so you conveniently know the one to kill first. This was previously a pain in the rear if you zoomed out at all and couldn't see the animation.
2) warp stabs will slaughter your scan res if I recall. That isn't too much of an issue carebearing but keep it in mind should you decide to PvP. (and T2 warp stabs are arguably one of the most worthless items in the game.)
Grab your ship, get in fleet.. Eve is a party and PvP'ers just party harder. |

To the one saying taking out the frigates first; Do NOT always take that as the rule. If I remember right, on Guristas extravaganza the tackler frigates are actually the triggers for the next spawns; so taking those out could land you in hot water very fast. Be sure to check what not to shoot on each mission. |

Eve-Kill Mission Survival Guide
Level IV's are not like Level III's, you've got to research your mission in order to properly manage the aggro, especially if you're flying solo.
Once you've got this down, your ship should be able to tank any particular spawn while your light scout drones take out the frigs. (Mediums have been nerfed in regards to frigs, they take longer, but can do the job if needed).
I lost a Typhoon in a similar situation when I moved up to doing Level IV's, where Web/Scramble frigs are a given. |

Thanks for the added info guys. I'll keep all that in mind and also try the warp in then turn round and start to run away technique |
