This is the first I've heard anyone talk about the ships/gates. I am also encountering this problem, but not on OSX.
I've started playing EVE in a Parallel's 4.0 Windows XP instance (it triples my FPS, while VMWare doesn't run EVE at all).
So using the classic eve client in Windows, things are disappearing, too. My ship will just completely vanish and so will gates. After awhile, they'll show back up. Then they'll go missing again.

I have heard this as well from corp mates that run windows clients. Especially the duplicate icons in the selected item window.

Argh! ps: docked and undocked, ship graphic returned until i jumped through a gate. As I moved away from the gate, i began to uncloak and then i appeared to cloak even though I have no device on this ship.
All except point 1c I've seen posted on non mac forums. So they may probably are not mac specific.
As for 1c, this is the first time I see it posted. And I experienced it myself for the first time today on SiSi. Unless someone more knowledgeable than me (Apple Boy or maybe even someone from CCP) already knows if it's mac specific or not and, if so, to which cider versions and setups, I'll have to do more testing on it to find out (hoping I can reproduce it reliably).

The duplicate icons bug is not Mac specific. I have corpmates on windows that have the same issue.
I just bring it up here because *I* use a Mac.

I've seen 1c many, many times personally.
Also, since the patch, I haven't been able to get more than 12fps in space, and 5-6 in combat. Stations are fine though (15-20fps).
Thoughts? |

Ungroup your weapons that will fix the graphics with ships/stations and gates also removes the lag between the gate jumps. Happens with all the clients. As far as the multiple boxes in the selected item window goes I guess that's with all the clients as well and probably has something to do with that it doesn't clear the previous item from it if it is the same as you are clicking again and creates new command boxes for that item (just a guess).
Another annoying issue I came across with the mac client was when changing chat channels the others somehow go into V-E-R-T-I-C-A-L mode so each letter you type will appear in its own line. After hitting enter on empty type are of the chat fixes it back to normal though.

Since QR I seem to be seeing a memory leak.
After an hour or two of play (usually sitting in chat) I've been seeing cider's memory usage break 16GB |

Pre QR I had reverted to the n-1 version of the client due to excessive instability and the fact I couldnt run more then 1 copy of the client for more than a few seconds... after reversion I had no problems.
After the QR upgrade I had exactly the same problems again. Namely instability, and excessive instability with multiple clients. Framerate was poor but livable, and overall I didnt appear to have any gui issues.
I then applied the cedar reversion patch as posted in this forum and once again everything seems stable... upto 3 clients running, not a single crash since patch applied. I have noticed some graphics errors though, once in a station the background looked a little odd and a couple of times yesterday in missions I spotted that cloud graphics were totally messed up. Not a biggie for me though as i rarely mission.
I'm running a near new top-end iMac with the 8800 graphics card. Not sure if that's benefiting me as to be honest I dont appear to have a lot of the errors being reported... thank god!
Dreaded.

(edited) I actually looks like it is happening when I jump. Every jump is adding 10-20MB to my VSIZE.
WoW Saw this happen today a 20 MB jump in memory usage jumping from grid A->B. But from B->A it didn't happen. One thing it keeps doing, is slowly increasing memory usage.

new issues: positives
after one week of "testing" QR i want to state, that whatever You did - it was good for me. its a bit disturbing with regard to the bugs, complaints, observations in the actual posts.
my gaming experience is the best since the start of the mac client over a year ago? right now, directly after the QR patch - nothing else changed before and since empyrean age - on my Mac.
1) gettin started within in seconds to get to the log in 2) logged in in seconds where it took eventually a minute to get to the char screen 3) chat screen fully loaded, rdy to enter game in a second 4) according my "standard" high, stable frame rates - in station, in flight, in fight, in warp and jumping 5) no crashes to desktop, no comp-forced-restart up to now since QR patch; where as client crashes since the very beginning always "mediated" force-comp-restarts; where as with empyrean age, the number of crashes increased from daily to hourly schedule.
I dont encounter lag or laaaaaag, at least nothing more to mention than a spike here or there. I can now hear/enjoy the jukebox for hrs and hrs and hrs, which got before QR messed, scrambled up after 1 hr latest.
my issue? well, having the most fun in game, with the game ever - seeing everybody else having problems, "normal issues", i wonder what is different with my client-my comp combo-setup compared to the others.
Of course i am not keen to return to the old state ("nor maybe even looking forward to bug fixes"). |

I decided to "stress test" current patch with the memory leaks. MacPro dual 266, 1st gen. 6 GB RAM. standard NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT.
I started missioning at 12.06, had a crash after half an hour, but didn't take another screenshot because I was in the middle of a mission, took another screenshot at 14.19, and just an hour later I was just about to take new screenshot, the Neocom suddenly popped open (I didn't touch a button), the layout of my windows went instantly from grey to ugly brown, and the whole bunch crashed upon me when I hit ESC to fix things back.
Looks like you have a 2 hour window, sort off, before you get into the danger zone.

Ugh. After the QR 1.0.1 I am seeing an increase of 100-200MB per jump in my VSIZE. A round trip of 9 jumps then 4 jumps (and doing nothing else) I am up to 9.5GB

i also get the disapeering ships/ stations/gates etc
oh and exeption raised" pops up all the time and crashes me:(
so very unstable client atm and i pay for this ffs

Still not entirely stable, and indeed some "exception" pop-up crashes. Lot better than the previous version though. I consider it playable, although not activating my 2nd account again till stability returns to pre-October levels.
