Other than not getting the award is there any other negative impact?
I had a storyline mission to deliver 1500 m3 of cargo to lowsec, stupidly excepted, stripped downed my Badger to just a warp stabilizer (worthless item), jumped into .4, gate ****d, pirate ransom was way too high and wouldnt negotiate, podded, told agent to shove his mission and took a hit.
BTW... this was my first venture into lowsec.

Edited by: white kight on 17/11/2008 14:28:52 Yes if you accept them and then reject them you get a standings hit, same as if you reject too many normal missions. Hope that help.

If you decline a mission that you've already accepted, you'll get a standing loss towards the agent that gave you the mission.
If you decline a mission that you have'nt accpeted, nothing will happen unless if you do so 2 times in a row over a short amount of time.

Ok, asking a pirate if you see a month old player would you ask for 50 million? |

One WCS alone is nearly never gonna help you. Against a single pirate, sometimes against 2 of them, you can have some chance if you fit 3 (anyway minimum 2) WCS. And fit some shield tanking too.
An alternative tactic is to keep your sig radius low and fit for agility (fast time to warp) instead.
Or the cloack+mwd trick.
Better yet: scout ahead (ask a friend or use an alt or even hire a scout).
Use a blockade runner if you can fly it. Or actually train for it if you are missioning close to a storyline agent that could send you to lowsec.

The answer would be no. Although the Warp Core stab would have foiled my disruptor drake and you would have got away lol!!!

Hmm. You do not want to know that answer. I think most serious pirates would answer: "no, I just pop him".

Just poping him sounds like bad business, taking pity on him buy lowering (negotitation) the ransom would be better because he migth return to lowsec since although ransomed he had a desent dealing with a pirate... unlike him I'm not going into lowsec anytime soon.
All these pirates got out of me was a worthless badger wreck, that had 1500m3 tons of secure cargo (not sure if thats lootable) and a piece of crap warp drive stabalizer...
Btw... I offered 10 million

Honestly, i would have accepted 10 mil. Most newer players are not going to have a lot of isks worth of assets in the cargohold.

OK let me get this right, if you pod someone u get nothing for it? Wreck and loot are a whole differnt story, which I understand. I don't know if its me or maybe my parnets brought me up well, but to kill a player for no reason and to get nothing out of it is simply stupid...
All they did was force me to spend my ISK on new implants which was being planed to purchase something to fly in lowsec which would be worth a hell of alot more than a stripped down badger.

Its true but pods are a part of the ship kill for any pirate. I have killed my fair share of pods as well. To be honest the only time you ever catch a pod is when they area afk or autopiloting, thats called survival of the less stupid lol. |

I'd like to think I'm not a stupid player, still somewhat a n00b with no PvP. But After my ship was destroyed I was still not able to warp out of there in the pod. As soon as the badger was destroyed I was clicking on a belt telling to (get the "F" out of Dodge) warp to zero to no avail. |

Sounds like slight lag/desynch which would have made you not warp out. It sucks but it seems to be a feature of the game
Edit: i didn't mean to call you stupid . I meant that autopiloting / afk people in low sec are stupid. However as i said sounds like lag/desynch. |

Better start spam that WT0 icon before you pop.

Thanks knight... no offense taken. And I agree that its not too bright to be afk... only time I go on auto pilot is when I warp to the last gate.
I doubt we will run into each other, since loosing my +3 implants I've decided to train up and obtain +4 implants which I will enjoy for a long time to come.
Thanks for your information and being an honest pirate.

if you try to gate out, and have them auto targeted, you will NOT be allowed through gate... If you're in running mode, be sure to 'target back 0 targets' in main menu...

no.
when your ship explodes you get a session change timer the same as undocking etc, so jumping (or docking) immediately after ship destruction will not work for 30s. Number of ships locked is irrelevent.
spamming warp to zero on any celestial away from where you are before you pop will 99% of the time get you away due to the lag of your commands going back and forth to the server and ditto the guy trying to lock your pod. (assuming you are not bubbled of course)
pods nigh on instawarp.
