Well with all the talk about the new missile nerfs and stuff I was thinking maybe now is the time to train some skills for a different ship. I thought my Raven was ugly anyway .
What I'm wondering is if it will be worth it? Will the Rokh be slower at killing than the Raven even post nerf? I was also considering training Amarr, but am unsure. Any thoughts?

Different roles that's all. And don't listen to what you read on the forums, as 98% is bullcrap.
If you're talking about missions, the rokh is great. If you're talking about small gang pvp, the rokh is good. If you're talking about fleets, the rokh is great. If you're talking about mining, the rokh is awesome.
And really, you need some 5 mil in gunnery that is usable by all turretbased ships before you're really efficient with it anyway. Also mind you that training hybrid opens up for Gallente. Parrots, commence!

How much :)
I hope this isn't perceived as a crying post. I don't know anything about the nerf, but I was looking for an excuse to get out of my Raven so I was gonna use it as motivation no matter what. I guess if Raven is still faster and I need 5mil SP in gunnery though that I won't go for it.

Raven hs rarely been the fastest for any given mission. It has however been close to, on just about all. And you won't be increadibly fast with any ship before you learn how to use it anyway. 5 mil was a round figure and mostly for the supportskills, I wouldn't be using missileboats without training some 2 mil in gunnery either. |

Rokh generally can't hit a damn thing with its Rails, you won't be able to get far enough away to reduce transversal and the Rokh is so slow (even more now with QR) that you are lucky to hit 300m/s with an ABII. The same speed issue means Blasters aren't an option, it has one of the lowest locking speeds (90mm base resolution) and its cap is also terrible for a tier 3 BS that is supposed to use 8xLarge Rails.
In fleet PvP it owns but in missions its Rails can't track what they could hit and Blasters can't hit what they could track due to distance, which you can't achieve for your Rails to be effective at the same time (only a few missions warp you in far enough away).
You could use it as a Torp/Nos, Cruise/Nos, Torp|Cruise/Smartbomb boat but then you are better off with a Raven. The only thing good about a Rokh for missions is the shield resistances, but it doesn't have the cap for much of anything, let alone tank AND fire 8xRails or an AB and 8xBlasters.
Me? I used it for mining till I got a Hulk and it can be fun sometimes in lvl 3 missions with weapons that you'd never fit on it. |

In that case don't use the missile 'nerf' as an excuse to move away from the Raven. If you don't like it, get something else. That's the beauty of this game. The missile changes only affect people with insufficient skills to properly equip their Ravenkinds, or people who are too lazy to make the changes they need. |

Try fitting those and still have a decent tank and cap. |

Granted, it is not a Mission running ship :-/. Then again do you need all of them? And secondly, now that the raven is balanced out, you actually have to fit rigs (if you want to hit smaller ships) that do not support your tank.
Fit a Hardwire and a few rigs that help out ur tracking speeds and im sure its not as impossible as you say.

It's not impossible, but in missions a Raven is more effective due to two big reasons. The first being you don't lose a lot of DPS to tracking (or range if you use blasters). The second being you don't get a damage/RoF bonus to the Rokh's guns.
The Rokh can do missions, it can tank them quite well, but it can't dish out the damage (or atleast, it can't dish out damage AND tank with good tracking and sensor resolution).

Sorry about the confusion. I hate it when people disregard a ship as a viable option when in fact it may be.
I use a Raven for my own purposes (can you say nighthawk?) but would very much like to migrate once that my missle skills are near perfect. |

I do sometimes missions in navy megathron, gallente BS lvl 4 (thats quite some extra tracking), also a shadow serpentis tracking comp fit tracking script fitted, motion prediction lvl 5, and that was before QR when mega was much faster than rokh is now. And still you got tracking issues. (not against BS, well also against angel BS, but cruisers can be quite hard to hit allready if you move at 150m/s, if you are webbed you wont hit them at all). |
