I think it would maybe be nicer if the weaker guns of each class(like the 350 rails) had slightly better scan resolution than the big guns. I think the biggest argument against fitting turrets smaller than your ship class is that you don't get the bonus on them. So either changing the bonus to all of that turret type or maybe tweaking the weaker guns to be a tad more able to hit things would help.

They've got tracking the sig radius on guns doesn't actually do anything it just shows what targets those turrets are build for anything above or below modifies your trackig value. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

The scan res acts as a multiplier or divider for the tracking, so even with great tracking, if the scan res doesn't match up with the target size right, the effective tracking is bad. Scan res is a way to give something good tracking but only for a certain size and above ship.
