The dampening of sentrys should not be treated as an exploit. So why they have nerfed the dampening of sentrys are a mystery to me... Look in this thread or just read the interresting part: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=82473
GM Panzer Game Master wrote: 5. Don't rely on Sentry Guns to keep you a 100% safe. Especially not when travelling in unsecure space. There are several tactical ways to avoid sentry gun fire, that are NOT considered to be an exploit.
IMHO that is how it should be! If the sentrys can't be dampened there is almost none risk at all. If it is worth something to be in below 0.5 there should be some drawbacks also. Now the space out there are full off high earning missionrunners, lab slot occupants, it should be some danger involved to get access to that!
But if someone are expoliting a bugged function with the sentrys, that isn't good.

I should put this in my sig, pretty annoying to see people who don't know claiming pirates are "sensor damping sentrys", while they're actually tanking them.
Oh yeah I hear ya. -

I've been wtfpwn'd outside the oyonata station. The funny part is that I got shot ~3-4 times outside that station (blood raider station), an the sentries were just apllauding at the situation. We got some chances to gank the gankers but we were always afraid of the turrets.
I think it's high time CCP posted EXACT rules about crime and sentries. All this keeping us in the dark is just metrosexual.

We have also been ganked in Obe (0.4) and other below 0.5 systems near stations etc...
I know they are bugged for sure, but that is good, if CCp is not interfering with the kills pirates get, than they shouldn't mind the other way around either...

There's actually been a long discussion about this particular effect within Falls, and we've even discussed it with a GM.
He said its not an exploit.
So far as Falls investigation goes.
If your gonna sit outside a station, do this:
Note what ship you're in What race you are What your standing to the station is What the pirates faction to station is What the pirates standing to your race is
Blabla, many computations, but, it appears with the new criminal flagging system, and recent addition of new social skills, you can attack certain people at certain stations of certain factions with no comeback from the sentries.
(250 Mill isk and ill give you the real formulae :P)
Fallschirmjager have been developing a list of said stations, and it would be advisable, should you see us in local to dish out the appropriate rates. Or your ship will go boom. :)
Until this is seen as an exploit, I'll be popping things this way. :oo

It¦s no exploit if it¦s within the game mechanics and CCP wanted it to be like that (and tbh I love it when it¦s standing dependant).
But those information should be available to everyone !
As someone posted above - CCP should release the rules that apply within the criminal flagging system and sentries firing.
Is a setup possible with your findings where you can happily bomb a pilot without sentries firing at you and when your prey returns fire the sentries will toast him ? (say station, faction blag blah blah likes you very much and dislikes the one you shoot at)..

Well
Yesterday i killed a Vexor, his mate jumped out of system, then jumped back in 2 minutes later, only for the sentries to pwn his rupture.
So i guess the answer is yes.

I know I can do 174m/s and go 6500m safely tanking 2 sentry guns in a raven.
Hey by the way what system did that happen, been getting bored mining as of late. I like those falls guys because they have below -5 security status, makes it more fun for me and my crew.

Aside from certain rules/faction/whatever, the behaviour of faction sentry guns is somewhat random quite frankly.
Every once in awhile Gurrista sentry guns in Venal open up on a pilot for no reason at all. Very rare, but happens. Also, more commonly people warping from a belt killing Gurristas to a Gurrista station get shot by Gurrista sentries, but that's only 10% of the time too (and not based on Gurrista faction either).
My personal favourite for stupid was a mate who docked in his Megathron (no sentry aggression), switched to an industrial, undocked and got blasted by the sentry guns. Or the guys who docked safely the night before (no sentries angry or firing), undocked THE NEXT MORNING and got blasted by sentry guns.
Bugs? There are no bugs with faction sentries!

Oyonata and some of the systems around there have blood raider stations, sentries on these stations will only protect blood raider property i.e. the station and the other sentres. (And if a blood raider spawns near there it will protect that too.)
We lost a ship to this too.

Katugumur and Ingunn. They're strong in there. Met Annu in his Raven there today, but got away. Helps not being in an indy... _________________________ Ain't no mountain high enough |
