Hi,
Windows 2000 P4 300Ghz 2gb ram Gforce 7300 SE/7200 GS video card
When ever windows runs I get high CPU usage (56%), I don't have anything running in the background other then windows system apps.
When I undock CPU Usage Jumps to 100% eve will hang for about 2 minutes then CPU usage drops to 40%
When I warp again CPU jumps to 100% hangs for about 2- 4 minutes then drops back to 40%
When I open a window in eve like wallet CPU jumps to 100% , this happens really bad if I open a player or corp info window.
GM told me to report this here..
All this happens in any sec null low or high sec, also happens sitting in station. I have graphics set to Classic and at there lowest settings sound is off effects off. The is no firewall running I even turned off virus scan, nothing on my end changes then only thing that changes was your patch.
I have uninstalled eve totally and manually removed eve from the PC and re-installed but same CPU usage. not sure what else I can say but something with the patch is doing this I'm not the only unhappy camper

Why do you feel the need to quote get a better cpu I'm having trouble after the patch and before the patch everything worked fine if your life is set around forum trolling please go lay down on the highway please do that the world will be better with out you
If you bothered reading properly I said I'm running classic, again no problems before patch.. oh and no its not my pc, ccp has memory leaks. Yes it is 3.00Ghz left out the . :)
I thought this was the place for Devs to read bug reports not trolls to bug reports

Windows 2000 has never liked games to begin with...
CCP dropped support for Windows 98/NT 4.0 some time ago; dunno about Win2000 - anyway, there are issues with the game as of the patch that people with multi-core CPUs aren't feeling, and ones that everyone's feeling. The process of tracking down all these issues just seems to be taking some time.
I would recommend you try and get at least Windows XP, tho...

Works pretty fine for me under Win2k, since it has the same core as WinXP. (or, to be honest, it is XP has the same core as W2k) -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Also I choose to use windows 2000 Vista sucks no need for it.
Speaking of Trolling... I like Vista thank you very much.
But onto serious stuff. Is it just EVE... just in case. Also have you tried clearing your cache. I don't think uninstalling does that though I'm not sure.

Log in screen IS rendered real time, it's not a bitmap or whatever. Stations are also rendering remember so you will use GPU cycles. Finally it's good practice to state C or F in general when talking over the interwebs cause most people use F but I believe you're using C and good on you .

Actually, Windows 2000 and Windows XP differ only in the colorful bubblegum interface. Turn that off and you have Windows 2000 back. But yes, the CPU might be a problem. When you open a window or jump, your computer has to load a bunch of data. Working on that data usually takes some time...
One more thing tho... Do you happen to have a firewall (Windows 2000 doesn't have an own one)? If you do, you might want to set it up so that it doesn't interfere with EVE, but don't turn it off (as that would be fatal). If you don't, get yourself a good one, and maybe scan for some trojans and spyware - they might want to know what data is transmitted. If that is the case, your game password is possibly known to some person out there... |

I can confirm, new client is *very* *laggy* and *slow*. The problem appears after Quantum Rise patch, client now have extremely low FPS (I have FPS around 90 before patch, 40 in fleet battles, and now I have 20 average and 9-10 in fleet battles). This FPS doesn't allow to even use overview for targeting. Looks like this FPS doesn't directly related with video card, because disabling premium graphic and effects actually doesn't affect FPS.
Also I see some client glitches(like once i warped to stargate and was unable to see it, while saw my fleet around, and was able jump thru it. After it my client freeze)
The most problems new client makes for large fleet battles, 400+ ppl.

xxmiloxx, was this pc costumized for you or did u buy it ? becouse windows 2000 is not likely the default OS. windows 2000 is fine dot get me wrong, i realy luv windows 2000. but i dont think the amount of memory is realy optimized in 2000. MS says that it can with pro but i remember there was something wrong with it. xp has defenetly some adjustments for new stuff.
first off all check your internet speed before we continue and u have a 14k4 :P
the problem that you have with the lag looks to me as a caching problem. what eve does is te folowing read the game files, write cache, read cache. the reading and writeing of cache will be done trough the memory. when there is not enough memory the page file is accessed. this is also a read write action to your disk. you have atleast 5 read write actions to your disk at the same time. basicly thats 2 much io for the disk to handle quickly.
first of all let us know also what disk u have. defrag the disk. and make sure 20% is empty. test if disableing the use of the page file helps.
(if u have 2 disks. find out the faster disk (use hdtach). put your os and with it the user directorys on the fast disk. put eve on the slow disk. )
if your cpu uses 56% normal and 100% at sessions thats normal. could be beter for your cpu but i had no problem with my 1.1ghz running at 100% always. and it did not lag more then normal. if the cpu would take 2 min to calculate stuff then ccp devs made a oops. this is defenetly a bunch of data that cant be handled fast enough.
funny stuff when u build your pc yourself and u have 2 difrent memory modules like upgraded from 1 to 2 gig and u take a difrend module type slower or faster the mobo will adjust speed and u can even come out slower then 1 module.
