Hi,
13:02 GMT time: messaged appeared with something like "server will be rebooted in 5 minutes".
13:04 GMT time: server has been shut down.
A few even didn't had the chance to read the message.
I hope nobody is going to loose their assets and if yes, they should slay u!

Unless I knew exactly *why* they rebooted, I wouldn't complain if I were you. Perhaps they had to reboot to fix a catastrophic bug that was causing people to lose their assets left and right? If that was the case, then *not* rebooting would have been even worse!
Don't yell at CCP unless you're certain what they did was wrong. "Innocent until proven guilty", you know?

But call "server will be rebooted in 2 minutes" please. Or call it "we shut the server down, just as you are reading the message".

Hi Molly, The server was rebooted to fix the market which was totally void of any items. Yes the delay before rebooting was a bit too short |

Because of a prob the market suplies didnt get updated at least the message said that.

I gotta say, I hate CCP more and more everyday... the downtime is supposed to be 1 hour, they are NEVER in time back up... NEVER EVER.. and then, the unregular piece of **** like today.... One thing you people might think about, if I would treat my customers like you treat us, I would get shot at least twice a week for being clumsy, unprofessional and blunt.

Seems to me they have more problems with the server every time they go and reboot...
Maybe if they only rebooted when they needed to (lag problems, patches, etc...) they may have less problems. I've played a few different MMOG's and they didn't shut down for an hour EVERY DAY for no reason...
But like they'd listen to me (or any player for that matter) anyway, they're prolly conserving electricity or something, I dunno...

I KNEW something was about to go bad. When I saw the market was FUBAR'd big time, I was the first to point it out on the Pator Tech corp channel.
Never saw the message, but I was sitting safe at a base thank God.

First off the server was down, yet again for 1 hour 35 minutes. not the stated 1 hour on the game login. now i understand that they cant just go "oh look 2 minutes to go beter reboot the cluster"
The game login text should be changed againt to reflect the more common downtime, and read 1 hour 30.
Also, very often, the server comes online only to either crash offline on its own, or be taken down a second time.
Thats something that i think needs to be worked on, through beter working practices. Practiced patches on another cluster or something.
hell i dont know what goes on at CCP's end during patch time and server down so cant really comment on what would make it beter. but it needs looking at guys.
Id be interested to see though what does go on at the server end during a patch day or server down. Any jobs going CCP? i mean.. someones got to dust the terminal down and make the tea right? :D

Whoopie, it's a 5 minute reboot, big freaking deal.
If you didn't get the message, well too bad, it was easily 2 minutes between the message and reboot, which is enough time to warp to a station or planet.
I doubt anyone will lose their ships to pirates because of this,pirates don't attack disconnected ships.
Just log in, don't panic, and either warp away from the pirates or fight them.

The reboot needed to happen though it was a damn short warning. I won't be impressed if my can or ore isn't waiting for me when/if I get back on or my ship has been destroyed. The server isn't even on it's way up yet and I can't go to bed till I make the ship safe at least.
Nothing in the market window wasn't going to cause loss of ships or stock so it could have been at the very least a 10 minute warning, thats minutes measured by real clocks...
Annoying.

It's not a 5 minute reboot. I guess they are debugging/coding now and applying a patch to a live system *eg*.

No. If you have a lot of drones out and are fighting it's hard enough to get the drones in. I've just made it into warp.

Vala, you moron, take a look at the clock to see how long it took them again to get the server up and running... quite a bit more than 5 minutes... and 500 seconds is not 5 minutes, just so you know :P

Seriously, I don't see how people get so worked up over an extra few minutes of downtime.
It's really not that big of a deal.
Eat breakfast (or lunch or dinner depending on where you are) and get some fresh air.

Damn, Deal with it, don't whine. If you're all so ****ed about it, leave. I've played MMOG's where they had to reset the game to square one due to a programming botch. Participate in the test server and ask if there is anything you can do to help them. |

Hi everyone.
The server downtime was unusually long today because the backup took an unusually long time. After the server was up, we (along with many of you) noticed that the market had not deployed properly ,i.e. there were no NPC items for sale. So, the choice was to take down the server and fix this, or leave it for 24 hours.
We're sorry for any inconveniance suffered because of this, but we thought a quick reboot was the better option.
