I would like to know from beginning to end how manufacturing works.
I know you must have blue prints and rented factory space, but what about skills?
What are the skills involved?
What types of raw materials would I need?
Is it just different minerals? Or would I need ores, ship equipment, and other stuff in order to make certain items?
What sort of learning curve is involved? Starting fresh, how long will it take me to get skilled enough to start producing the most basic frigates?
Would I need more than 1 factory space for larger items like ships?
If yes, would these factory spaces need to be in the same station?

You only need one factory for any one item.
You are only REQUIRED to have "industry" skill, the others just make you more efficient.
You only need minerals at this time, other items may be included in the future.

...and after the last patch, if you want to use one of your corporations factory slots, you have to place the BP and minerals in the FACTORY window of the corp hanger. Contact your CEO if you do not have access to the factory tab in the corp hanger.
The mass production skill lets u build multiple items at once (e.g. use multiple factory slots at the same time)
Increased Industry skill reduces the amount of time it takes to make things.
Production Effeciency skill reduces mineral costs.

oh yeah, and the Blueprint will tell you which minerals are needed to manufacture the item...you cannot see this info before the BP is in your hands though :(
Here is how it works: after you have the BP and minerals in the right hanger, bring up the factory screen.
Highlight the factory slot u are going to use (it must be rented to you or your corp). Click the install button. Select the blueprint from the list box. Enter # of batches to produce.
