Here`s my problem folks. I have to format hard drive and reinstall everything, including Eve. Since I am in exploration business atm there is a quite long list of bookmarks that I really cannot afford to lose. Alas, I don`t know where they are stored.
Basically I need to make a backup of all bookmarks I made, and then after installing fresh copy of Eve client to get them back. Any idea how to do it? |

Edited by: Gieron on 20/11/2008 13:17:25 Bookmarks are stored on the server. So you won't loose them if you reinstall (or even if you blow up your computer and buy a new one).
Bookmark folders are however not stored on the server. So you would get all bookmarks in one big mess if you don't save your settings.
The settings are found in a directory on your computer. If you back that up you can copy it over after you have reinstalled the game and get back all your settings. Problem is, I can't remember the path to the settings and can't check here.
EDIT: This is the path on Vista (replace %username% with whatever your username on the computer is). Note that this assumes the default installation directory for EVE.
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility\settings

Thank you so much, I had no idea that BMs are actually stored on server
As a Win XP user I`ve found directory you mentioned here: C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility\settings
Btw there are seven `.dat`, and one `configuration settings` file. I guess I need to backup all of them? Or just the last one?
Cheers

Backup them all. Some are for your characters. Some for your accounts. And some seems to be universal. But just take them all to be sure.

All your bookmarks, mail, notes etc are stored on the server. The only thing you will lose from reformatting is personal overview settings and any sort of organization you have done to your bookmarks. |
