Is there a page somewhere that details all the different alliances and their beliefs / mandates? Or do I have to make one?
I have an idea to make a website purely about the alliances that control the outer rim. Ask most people (including the heads of the major empires!) and they view the alliances as one big thing. One bunch of evil people that wonÆt let you into an entire part of the gameworld, or will ransom you, or sell you a ôpassö, or generally make life hard.
But after the Jovian Directorate decided to add the mail alliances to their register of sovereign nation states, I think itÆs time we took more notice collectively. People claim alliances have no culture, no history, and that they do nothing but fight. Is this true? Are they nothing but a heaving mass of hundreds of griefers? Surely not! I know that the coalition of free stars leans more towards ôfree access for allö û so there already is something a bit deeper than pure killing.
All I want to do is speak with the leaders of each alliance and ask some questions about what they believe and what their ideals are. Maybe get them to submit a mandate or a flag or somethingà just so people can visit the site and get an idea exactly WHAT is going on out there. Hopefully it will make the game more exciting and give new people something to aspire toà ôIÆm planning on fighting in the rim against NORAD one dayö for eg.
Am I wasting my time orà what do you lads reckon?

it would be great to have a weekly updated 'alliance' newsletter or something, with a column reserved for each alliance to post whatever they want- things like their latest wars, declare challenges to other alliances, travel warnings, tolls, general info, etc. it shouldn't be too hard for you to play the editor, and check with each alliance each week to see if they officially want to post any changes or new information, new toll prices or restricted areas.
it could be in html1.0 so everyyone in eve could read it from the ingame browser, and stay up to date on the latest alliance info. like reading the weekly news with your coffee as you get ready to head out in your ship.
if some ingame newsletter like this already exists i'd love to hear of it as well.

Alliances confuse me - I never know who's a part of which alliance, and which alliance controls what region. Having a centralized info page that details each would be greatly appreciated!

politics of this game (esp. alliance politics) are probably
the most interesting thing for me in this game,
i constantly check every eve forum i know for more and more
stuff about alliances, between alliances, and such
should there be a newsletter - i'll be the first to subscribe,
just prepare to be VERY flamed when you release the newsletters,
two people's "truths" usually are quite different,
so whatever you write - people will always try and call you biased.
