o/ fellow movie makers.
I'll get right to the point:
I am trying to render a new movie of mine. but everytime around the 35% mark my premiere crashes.
If I look up the error report is says that the falt lies with frapsvid.dll. Now I have the latest version of Fraps, and I have the my CS3 updated aswell.
Furthermore I am running on Vista (could be the problem all together ofc.).
Pls someone help me lol, its been to long since I released a vid and finally I have good fraps again to actually make something!
If you need more info just ask, I'll gladly give it to you.

I had problems with frapsvid.dll and avi as well, but I couldn't even load the movies into my editing program. I got the problem after installing a trial version of Nero's 1.6gb bull-package which f")º($ up my codecs. I tried to reinstall various codec packs and really clean up everything that was on my pc that could have had an influence on videos. Even dxdiag didn't work (Direct Show error. Try it, you might get the same). Then I found a tool to completely uninstall nero (on their homepage) and then it worked after another reinstallation of the CCCP codec pack.
That solved at least one of my problems. Rendering wouldn't work even though, so I updated my fraps version to 2.9.6 and downloaded the frapsvid64.dll (for 64bit windows-versions, obviously) and then it worked. |

Thanks for the reply.
I will try that first thing in the morning. I do have Nero installed, and on startup it sometimes crashes aswell. So there might be a problem with that like you said.
If this doesn't help I hope some more ppl can try and help me out :)
ohw I also upgraded to fraps 2.9.6 and that didn't help, but I'll check it in the morning :)

I used premiere pro 2.0 for Welcome to amamake vid. Vegas won't let you import corrupt files over to begin with however Premiere lets you put them in and crashes out during rendering. If teh above advice doesn't work, pre-render work areas of entire clips/segments one or 2 at a time with I believe enter button when you get to the one around 35% or so it will still crash the pre-render. Save after each pre-render so you don't have to go back through it. When you isolate which fraps clip it is, you need to delete it from the movie. then follow these steps.
download virtual dub
load that clip
save as avi.... something new. New "amamake fight" or whatever.
clips will become 4 times as large but will be usable to put back into premiere for teh sake of the movie.

Holy crapping batman, I totally did not have time to look into this today lol.
But I left the pub early today so I could check your sollutions.
I first removed every single codec pack and everything to do with Nero (using the tool you mentioned).
Then reinstalled Fraps, started up Premiere Pro (CS3), and started to render my movie.
Yet again...at 34 or somewhere near it, premiere crashed again :(
So a big thanks still for your help but that didn't do it for me.
Then I looked at the last poster (sorry can't look back atm to check your name :) ) and tried what was writen there with the VirtualDub. It made my file go up from 4GB to 41GB (lolz) but I am now looking at a progress bar for the movie that is at 90% !!
Looks like it fixed my problem and I am very gratefull for your help m8 :D
Just waiting for the second pass to finish to see if it works completely.
@Princess: Sorry to dissapoint you but this movie is just a preview for corp mates that wanted to see what happend in a battle where we where outnumbered 3 to 1 and came out on top :)
I'll edit it into a longer movie in a month or so when I think that I have enough decent fraps without using ganks in it :)

glad it worked.. although my 3.9 gig high res 1680x1050 premium graphics only bump up to 16. somthing gigs when i do this technique. Sometimes I scrap teh shot if it wasn't that worthwhile, but most times it will be a "part 2" of a decent fight and I need to use it.
