Is my buffertanked ac hurricane, which I usually use for solo pvp/pirating, gonna be able to handle gate guns and/or station guns long enough to take down industrials and other care bears. If not, any suggestions?
This may belong in ship setups, but I thought I'd get a more informed answer here.

With it being buffer tanked, it obviously won't be able to tank them for long, but easily long enough to pop haulers/cruisers.

It can, but not for long. No matter what type of tank you go for on a solo cane, you may find yourself not having enough time to scoop the loot of your targets.
Also, all it takes is one clown with a scram to hold you down while sentries finish you off. I once did this to a solo Myrm that tried to take out my Rupture on a gate.
No idea what your skills or exact fit are, so just go test it yourself. Find a quiet system, take a pot-shot at the gate or station, then time how long you can take the heat before you need to warp out. (Make sure you're aligned  )

Tbqfh good luck catching a cruiser without 2x sensor boosters.

You'll last a little while on the gate in a plated setup, but I'd stick to easy ganks if you plan on fighting anything on the gate.

lol i almost thought you were that one guy that did the SAME thing to me
i was sitting on a gate waiting for a flashy red to jump in w/ backup in a safespot, and all of a sudden a celestis jumps in and locks onto me, me, never having seen a celestis used for pvp thought it would be a quick kill, and teach the guy a lesson, lol i thought wrong, extremely good buffer shield tank on that celestis, lasted long enough for the sentries to finish me, and i was only half way through his shields ( he wasnt flashy red, only yellow )
anyway, yeah, pay attention to this post, because it seems to be somewhat common occurence, lol
my backup got that damned celestis btw, then he came back in a megathron, and we killed that

If you use cookiecutter setups you are out of luck. Also as someone said 1 ship with a scram will get you killed very fast. I got a setup I used to use for it which could last and at the same time make sure those pesky scrambling frigs and cruisers werent able to scramble.
I can say neuts, MWD and 19k shield, rest will be up to you to figure out.

hmmm gatecamping in a bc isn't a good idea in my opinion, the things u can catch will be the things that would pop u. not sure if the setup below will lockup fast enough but it should perma tank gateguns, still don't use a bc for that.
