How about when it comes to build the components for the T3 ships you have choices of several colours to manufacture.
This would take no balancing what so ever, but would add variety and interest to the ships and to the market.
I could forsee the "in" colour for this season being black, and hence the price for the black components being higher etc...
All it would take it a little extra work from the art team. What do you think?  |

i like this idea only needs to be about 5 different colours aswell to make some affectively pretty different ships and they are pre picked by CCP so they sort of stay in theme (sort of)
edit : i think all colours should cost the same to produce though

It would be an interesting economic study to see the market price variation based mearly on the difference in the color of the sections.

Yup, you two have the same feeling as me, which is nice...
That the build costs/materials are identical, that the colours are perhaps limited to between 5-8 per section, and that the market deviation solely based on colours would be an interesting study.
I also think it would make the game more spectacular especially for the video creators, tournament teams etc... Your own colours would make you and your corpmates feel more unique in your ship, which is probably worth more than most modules and fittings.
Any more opinions?

From what I gather, the CCP art department is very possessive of its babies. Proposing alternate colour schemes to their babies is borderline blasphemy.
That said, as long as CCP picks the colour schemes it could work out, but I still wouldn't count on it happening. But if this happens, I'll be the first to suggest that Hot Pink and Gothic Black are vetoed by default. |
