or is it possible people have set a looooooong skill for tomorrows patch and are playing left 4 dead, call of duty, wow expansion (shudder) or any of a whole load of other cool new games ?

Sunday is the big day. Also, it's the lag issue that's hurting peoples game play. I think that once the patch is deployed and the major lag issues are gone, people will come back.

well lets see, there is a number of new games that must be completed:
gears of war 2 -about half way
fallout 3 -not very far
saints row 2 -not very far
fable 2 -completed once
far cry 2 -only started
red alert 3 -only started

I'm thinking that 25k+ on a friday night when a TON of folks are off having r/l friday nights (as most folks tend to do) is actually not a bad number at all. Of course my first year in EVE a friday with 4k online was a helluva deal, but hey.

it's almost 6 am here in Paris, my wife and i, and several of our friends, who also play EVE, were out all night at a play and went to a club... i guess we are the deciding factor of EVE's population decline

seriously. When the servers hit 50,000 at same time then we have the total sub numbers for when I joined logged on the server at the same time.
