Edited by: Hellinthose on 22/11/2008 07:14:01 Edited for: Spelling So someone comes up to my alt and flips my 1000m3 of veld that i did not have space for in my badger. I just ignore him. He destroys the can, then takes out beats me to the punch (i was alt+tabing to the main) and takes another 2000m3 of veld!
On my alt he was blinking red like a demented christmas ornament, however, i could do nothing as he had no combat skills to speak of. Instead of trying to do the trade one route, i did it the other way. I took my badger, placed 500m3 of veld in the can, which he promptly flipped. Awesome. Game time.
Warping back to station with my main, but leaving my alt in place, i kept giving him bits of ore so he would have something to do while i brought out my combat ship (the only disposable one in system was a drake i had built for moderate pvp, with a disrupter + webber on it. I knew that this might do the trick, but probably not since he would easily outrun me.
I popped into the belt, promptly disrupted him and webbed him, all the while the idiot was most likely thinking, "Concord is going to kill this bastard!". Concord did not come to his rescue as he fought me in his Brutix. He hit 1/2 armor and finally realized that concord was DEFINITELY not coming and he started to run.
Unfortunatly this character made it out alive, however, i would like those who fear can flipping to learn a valuable lesson from my experience.
They never know exactly WHOM they are flipping from ;).

Only if they're stupid, first of all you can check info on the can to know the owner. Secondly you can see it from the agression info top-left. So you met a guy who had no real clue OR he wanted you to come out and play and see what would happen.
Either way he didn't do things the proper way.

Thats the point. Most can flippers dont just give up, they WANT you to play, but its difficutl when your alts a miner and they only agress him. :/... Found a loophole to that problem :).

The solution to stop can-tipping is to stop jet-canning... not "engage the tipper and fail miserably to kill them." ~-~-~-~-~ -[WillChat4ISK]- I can be the handsome Amarr space captain. You can be the helpless Minmatar slave girl. |

I've found my Rokh, when parked in 0.9/1.0 and next to a jetcan, fitted with 2 miners (the bait), 2 neuts, 4 blasters and ofcourse MWD/Scram/Web to make a lot of canflippers cry.
Some won't even try when they see a mining Rokh, some have brains and notice only two turrets are mining lasers, but most are like moths to the flame and flip the ore the second they can open the jetcan .
It gets even funnier when they start blaming you of abusing 'their' can flipping technique to get free kills (yes I've had that)
Usually when I mine though, I either use a bunch of GSCs around a belt and fill them all up with my Hulk (Badger with ABII fetches the ore nice and fast), or just use cargo expanders.
You mentioned you had a disruptor fitted, was this a tracking disruptor or a warp scrambler, cus if its a warp scrambler, how'd he get away?

I'm curious where folks are doing the can-tipping thing these days, there used to be systems that were lousy with them and and as a highsec miner you knew not to go in there.
Been a while since i've done the highsec miney thing, wondering if thats still the case. ~-~-~-~-~ -[WillChat4ISK]- I can be the handsome Amarr space captain. You can be the helpless Minmatar slave girl. |

To the op: Learn to fit warp scrammers. Also get yourself and your alt in the same corp so when you get flipped he flashes red to both of you. You can start a one-man corp for peanuts with only 10 minutes or so of skill training. ---

Was a warp disrupter and he was faster :(. Shoulda fit a AB II or perhaps MWD on teh drake, but i wasnt after kills, just some fun.

Alt and Main are in two separate corps, which support eachother but arent affilliated. Therefore, this is impossible.

I thought only ******s and misfits troll.
Which one are you?
Was simply stating a viable solution in the "Tactics" section of this forum for characters who want to do some PVP while on their alt who are not in the same corps.

Edited by: Tzar''rim on 23/11/2008 09:27:48 That's the point, it's not viable for real. It's only viable if the other guy isn't paying attention. Have your chars in the same corp, actually play/mine with other real players (who know what they're doing), THAT is viable.
If I'd find your mining operation there'd be no way in hell you'd get me and if you'd actually entertain me in any way I'd stick around for quite a while. So yes, the only way to stop can flipping for real is to stop jetcanning.

Cuz if you've got a hauling alt you should have no jet cans out at all in 0.7 or less. Transfer box mining FTW.

#1 Have both of your alts be in the same corp so it becomes corp agression and not personal agression, [they'll be looting from a corp can].
#2 ECM Drones. Carry ECM Drones in your retriever or what ever, then have your main in a combat ship.
Speaking from a can tippers point of view, nothing f*cks you up more.
and if you really don't want to fight.. Secure can mine.
As for not knowing who owns the can, the player who agressed you must have been a noob, because all you need to do is right click the can > show info and it lets you know the owner and the corp/alliance their with.
Any decent can flipper will then set the corp/alliance standings to red and check how many are in local.

Well, considering Giant Sec containers only hold 3000 m3 and are a pain in the ARSE to mine with considering they have to be within 5000m of any structure / roid / whatever.

I had some fun times guarding my corp mining ops in a stealth bomber. Most canflippers we ran into were frigates. Free kills ... Of course thanks to Quantum fail an entire volley of stealth bomber cruises hits about 90 damage on one of my Merlins, so that's pretty much a dead strategy ¼_¼

I have several bomber kills in my frigate (and one in my cane, he thought I was still flying my Rifter as I kept speeding towards him, he kept firing). Oddly enough I could survive 2 volleys and the bombers were dead before the third, and I fit acgive tanking, no HP buffer.
While ago I attacked a bomber that insta popped my Rifter, don't know what was different but oh well.

to all the people saying don't jetcan mine if you don't want to be flipped... go check the stats on a maxed out hulk. roughly 5000 m3 every cycle from all 3 strips, fill a jet can in 15 minutes. so there really is no other option except for warping to station every time your hold is full, which means every 5-6 minutes (in other words, don't mine at all, because you'll spend 1/3 of your time (roughly 1-1.5 mil worth if your mining in highsec)in station, and warping to/from it (a hulk has the align time of a supercap haha).
the real solution to can flipping is keeping your hauler alt parked *right* next to your can and transferring the ore as soon as you drop it in the can, a hulk has enough cargo cap to take a full cycle, so that can help you when your hauler flies back to station to unload.
also, if you regularly mine in the same system. do yourself a favor and set up some bookmarks on the opposite side of the 'roids from the warp in point. that puts you a good 30-40 km from warp in, which should give you plenty of time to shuffle ore around if a suspicious character warps in. if your aligned, it might even give you the time to warp if a hostile warps in... but in a hulk, don't bet on it. haha! ::insert witty signature here:: |

There is no "proper way" for canflipping, you might as well look for the most efficiant way to recycle used toilet paper. Why players settle for such low form of pvp ill never understand. -
