My FPS seem to always be under 10fps and typing text does feel slow like the game is running at 10fps. But moving the screen around and ships or other objects seem smooth like they are running at 30FPS.
Anyone know is the FPS counter correct am I really getting 10fps or 30+?

Hard to say with that description, but 20 fps is at least very playable in EVE, in contrast to other games where 50 is pretty low.

50fps mid-warp last night.
Enter an asteroid belt with about 6 BS, not many roids, and some NPC's, and it dropped to a rather poor 10fps (dropping to as low as 5 fps at times).
Check out this post for a reason why FPS suffers so badly in Eve.

50fps mid-warp last night.
Enter an asteroid belt with about 6 BS, not many roids, and some NPC's, and it dropped to a rather poor 10fps (dropping to as low as 5 fps at times).

In the past I always found 10fps to be a slide show no matter the game. Lots of juddering. Yet in Eve it seems smooth (apart from typeing). Perhaps I need to install fraps and see what FPS it reports.
What type of FPS are other people getting in game. CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+M for the FPS counter.

15-20 or so ( yeah I run to much at the same time, IE, winamp, IRC, 2 clients etc. ) only start getting trouble with modules etc at less then 5.
