Im sick of downloading a whole new client, Copying it and reconfiguring both to work together.
Cant these patches actually work as advertised for once, instead of just autobreaking your client?

How is it breaking your client? More information is needed.

I downloaded the patch, Hit apply. Nothing happened. I assumed it was working away. About 25 minutes later I had to force quit EVE because it was doing nothing and the system said it was "unresponsive". Restarted. Launched eve - nothing happens. Now waiting 1hr 44 minutes for new client to download.

Edited by: Indus Cuhler on 27/11/2008 15:59:44 It doesn't help. I installed the patch, the game won't start. Uninstalled, downloaded entire client again, reinstalled. Nothing ...
It's listed as running in the dock, but you don't even get the splash screen ...
Is there some debug output I turn on and send a log to you guys?
- Did all this just now i.e. within the last hour...

Same for me just downloaded ... just get black screen. And since it seems to have made my client start in full screen again I had to hard power down my machine since I couldn't get to finder to forceably quit it.
Lovely - excellent testing yet again from CCP !

Same problem here, downloading and patching went seemingly smooth, but ever since that client is no longer working. Program seems to start up and then is shown in the dock as an active program, but it never appears on screen, i just look at my desktop. Reinstalling didnt fix the problem, so i guess you really screwed up the mac client.
And since it only affects one of my iMacs and not the other, i guess it is bug specific to certain cpus / graphic cards.

Same here. Logged on this morning, eve said need patch, download now? I said sure. It downloaded, said now we will close eve and apply patch. It did (although it never did close eve btw). So I closed eve and opened it again, nothing, client starts no game screen. Eve menu is up but no game screen.
So, I redownloaded patch from site and same thing happened. So, I redownloaded entire game and same thing happened. So now I sit here and play call of duty 4 because I cant get the eve client to work.
Would be nice to be doing missions right now.

BTW, I have exactly the same issue as Claudia, same imac 24". WHile I do have a 20" imac, it is my wife's and she is using it so I won't be loading eve on it. Get this guys, the system Claudia says does not work is correct, the 24" with that graphics card DOES NOT RUN EVE NOW.

When I try to run the auto patcher it asks me to change the permissions for several files, then asks for the admin password to do so. I click ok on this, and after another minute I get the same message, with the patch never actually taking place. I'm a relatively new mac convert, so if anyone has an idea what I'm doing wrong, you'll probably need to spell it out pretty clearly for me. Thanks.

Cascade, I sent a bug report with my computer profile, don't know how to tell which cider I have and I have already re-downloaded the whole eve client (to no avail), so don't have the client info you want. But you should know that even with the latest (from your web site) client, it still opens to a menu bar, but does not go further = no logon screen. Mac is not locked up, can still do stuff, but eve no run.

Bug report filed.
=================== Seriously borked up now.
1. Station graphics went screwy. Had to edit config file again. 2. F1-F8 no longer function to fire weapons. 3. Escape key no longer escapes to the settings screen. 4. Hot keys for engaging targets with drones or recalling them do not function at all 5. Cant type in chat window.
On the positive side, eve voice still works.
ARGH!

I just received an email from [email protected]. They thanked me for the bug report but said the following :"Hello oldgrisley, Thank you for your bugreport - ID:66272 Title: mac client wont load logon screen Unfortunately, your bugreport contained insufficient information to be of any use. Please review this thread for further information on submitting bugreports. Your bugreport has been filtered.

But they did send me a link to a revert patch they want me to test so I am doing that now. I will post after trying it.

My iMac does work. Haven't tried a mission with the new patch, but ran around the universe 50 jumps or so. Did a lot of docking and un-docking, buying and selling. Not a single problem.

I think the fact that there isn't a single person in the Mac OS channel in EVE (except an alt of mine using a PC) should tell CCP that something is VERY seriously wrong. In an npc corp channel only one MAC client user admitted to being online.

There are currently 10 in the OS X channel and there were 15 on there before without issues.

Well done you've just made me have to hard power off my laptop ... the first time in about 6 months !
This has happened since 2 patches ago. It has something to do with fullscreen mode, since setting "Desktop" to Y in the conf-file, to get window mode, fixes this. Apple+Return doesn't tho.
Can those of you who have problems, please try this first. I want to know if this is the reason why it is failing. If this doesn't resolve it I'll post the revert patch.

Those of you who had this issue, can you please post here what machine, what version of OS X you're running and what version of cider you had before. I'd really like to get to the bottom of this issue so that it doesn't happen again.

*sigh* I have the same problem. The splash screen did come up as expected and downloaded todays update. After that EvE doesn't start anymore - like it used to. I don't even get a splash screen. I only see the two EVE-icons in the task bar with the options "About, Hide and Quite". What to do? I do have an up-to date iMac (ultimate edition 3.06 GHz with NIVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with the latest Max OS - 10.5.5 (9F33)). How to find out which version of Cider I do have?
I am a paying customer and would quite like to be able to start the game I am paying for.

Edited by: Shin Chogan on 27/11/2008 20:19:53 Retried patching my Macbook Pro and it still fails so here are the Specs
Macbook Pro, 2.2GHz, 8600MGT 128MB VRAM, 4GB RAM. Running 10.5.5 Was using cider 1881 still says 1881 in info.plist but says 1938 in version.plist after the patch ! (On my Mac Pro both plists say 1938) Common.ini says build 70393 Both were running full screen prior to patch
ooooh getting a new error in the console logs when the black screen is up : cider [1376] Error 70000005
It looks like the patch has failed midway through. I'm off to copy the client from my Mac Pro to see if that works. If not I'll try the rollback patch.

thank you again Casqade The roll back patch worked on this latest eve patch. I had same problem many others had. Ran patch on old client, patch crashed half way through. I then downloaded the whole new client from eve's website. When I launched it it showed as running but no window came up. No black sreeen, nothing, just sat there looking at OS desktop with eve online in top menu bar. So I quit it. Went to forums found this thread and downloaded the roll back patch just as I did a few days ago to solve crashes. Eve's latest now looks to be operating. Running on 24in iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 gigs of ram, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS, OS 10.5.5 Thank you again Casqade for fixing this so quickly.
