Being a hardcore pvp'ist, and recently moved into a new home in 0.0 where the belts are unscaved i thought it might be worthwhile mining...in a domi =).
However, is this worthwhile? With current mineral prices in stuff...could someone give me a rough estimate on how much isk a mining domi would make per hour on say...veldspar?

Why the hell use a domi (6 turret slots) when you could use a brutix (7 turret slots), which is also much cheaper ? You'd be jetcan-mining anyway, since there's no way to make a decent income otherwise (if you try to use the tiny cargo space you have). Also... if you're in 0.0... if you can't get your hands on crokite/bistot/arkonor, better just beltrat instead, it's much more lucrative.
Anyway, without listing your mining-related skill levels (mining, mining upgrades, astrogeology, mining drone operation, drone interfacing) there's not much we can tell you... other than "your mining income level will SUCK badly".
P.S. To give you a rough estimate, a solo max-skills Hulk will be lucky to get around 8 mil ISK/hour on Veldspar if selling Trit at perfect refine in a trade hub. In a Domi in 0.0 with marginal skills, 3 mil per hour would be a lot.

Akita, if the number of high slots were the only consideration, then you might as well go with a catalyst which has 8 turrents. 8! But that's not enough. Domi has more low slots and more cpu. You can mine more with it than the brutix (assuming you go for a shield tank which I think will tank rats ok). Now, if you want to make the ship pvp-capable as well, I really don't know. But I do know it's not as clear cut as having more high slots.

Except a Catalyst with 3 Co-Processors can only fit 4 lasers. Not that it changes anything, I just wanted to point that out.

At "all L5 skills", you can shove 3 mining laser upgrade IIs on a Domi (alongside loads of T2 co-procs and a semblance of a passive shield tank), giving you 728 m^3/minute from the mining lasers... or you can go with a Brutix and a single upgrade giving you 715 m^3/minute (and slightly less passive shield tank). However, at my current skills (L4 minig, L4 astrogeo) and assuming T1 mining upgrades (I don't even have skill for T2 mining upgrades), that's barely 635 m^3/min with the Brutix and 651 m^3/min with the Dominix from lasers only (same 3 upgrades on domi, only one on brutix). Also, add to that ehatever you get from mining drones - both ships get the same yield from them, Dominix gets no mining drone bonuses. No matter how you put it, that's an appaling mining yield either way... and the Brutix setup is much cheaper overall (about half, actually, if no rigs are used). Hell, I get 572 m^3/minute from an OSPREY (2x T1 upgrade+coproc) at my current skills (plus mining drone yield, but it's lower than any of the other since you can only use 4 drones tops)... and 626 m^3 from a RETREIVER (1 upgrade and 1 coproc, same story with the mining drones, but you can use 5 here... but no space for combat drones then)... and both cost almost an order of magnitude lower as the alternatives.

Edited by: Mad Crafter on 28/11/2008 21:33:04 I'd have to say the best gallenti mining ship is a hyperion. With 8 miner II, 3 T2 MLUs and 3 T2 Co-Processors and all lv5 skills you get a yield of 971. However that's also the most expensive option next to a hulk, and has no room for a tank. But you're not doing that much less then your Covetor.
All in all, if you want to mine in 0.0 for money don't mine anything but the ABCs (crokite/bistot/arkonor). And if you think it's worth the training, get a hulk.

A Rokh is also half-way decent, especially since it can use multiple mining upgrades (the BS with most base CPU) and the fact it gets a passive tank bonus (shield resists). At "all L5 skills" it can use 2x T2 upgrades with some CPU to spare (DC+coprocs) mining up to 891 m^3/minute from lasers alone with a more than decent passive tank. Or it can go for a barely passable passive tank, with up to 971 m^3/minute yield (with Miner IIs and 3 T2 upgradesm from lasers only).

The Domi should be able to pull a nice yeild as well throught the Use of T2 mining drones with its drone bonus if you want to train them up, I currently get 50m3 with drone Interfacing 3 and the hulk doesnt give out drone bonus's
