Idea:
Logging off in space completely zeroes your capacitor so that when you next log in you have no capacitor.
To avoid people using cap boosters or energy transfer methods, you can make it so that your cap must recharge naturally or else your capacitor system suffers a catastrophic failure (i.e it returns to zero if boosters/transfer are used).

How about Dev's just declare it an exploit and be done with it?
It's a crap tactic used by crap gamers.

Edited by: Joshua Calvert on 17/07/2004 07:37:42 12hrs to find a safespot + ships staying in space = bad idea.
I'm not a power-gamer anymore. I actually have a job to go to because I have bills to pay and I don't want MY enjoyment ruined by some jobless wonders who can play 18hrs a day. It's not my idea of fun when I logout in an empty system after npc hunting or mining (i.e not ****ing someone off by logging out mid-warp to avoid death) but I come home from work 12 hours later to find someone has found my ship in space and popped it.
Logging out in space is sort of like a pause button (i.e logging out in mid-space saves your game state, in effect) simply because not everyone can play 18hrs a day and not everyone abuses the logout tactic.
Ships staying in space after logging out is a bad bad idea.

All we need:
1. Ships do not, cannot, and will not disappear sooner than 2 minutes.
If it takes you more than 2 minutes to kill a BS, you don't deserve to kill it anyway.
I have, personally, never seen a ship disappear sooner than 2 minutes but there are a lot of reasonable sane pilots (and Sally ) saying it is happening so there MUST be something up.
2. Logging in in space has to have some sort of delay to prevent log-gank tactics.
We don't care how it is done except it has to suit those who can play 18hrs a day or those who can only play an hour a day (i.e the cap recharge solution is viable but should only happen if you've been logged out more than 2 minutes).
Just stop this exceptionally lame tactic from existing.
3. See Dukath's post re: safespotting.
It's a really good idea.
