Hello readers and CCP staff:
I have helped a few eve players, who were having freezing issues when opening pages in eve, who are using WINDOWS XP, to rectify/overcome the momentary few seconds (about 2 to 5 seconds) freeze when opening pages and even whilst flying. They were truly amazed with the gameplay improvement.
There are alot of programs out there, which claim to boost internet performance etc, but usually make things worse or add files or delete files from your pc etc, and dont show much improvement at all, and in some cases, reduce your internet/pc performance.
I have been using a particular simple program for years and has been very effective and reliable and shows HUGE improvements with windows xp, without causing any problems with windows xp useabillity/stabillity etc.
It stopped my eve online gameplay from freezing when opening pages, such as assets, items, ships, character sheet etc.
I believe, this program could help alot of eve online players who are experiencing poor, freezing, juddering game play, especially those using windows xp and prove to be invaluable. It has also made my internet browsing much faster.
It adjusts windows xp's default MTU packet size and internet handshake settings, which i and a few other eve online players have found has helped alot. I have also tried it with my dual boot system in vista, although there was an improvement in vista too, in terms of eve gameplay and general internet browsing, it was not as noticeable, as it was in windows xp.
The program is called tcpoptimizer, which is freely available for download from speedguide.net.
Alternatively you can click on a link on above site and carry out an online test of your pc's settings and see a report of suggested enhanced settings.
After running prgram, i selected "optimal" settings and entered my internet service speed in mbits, using the slider bar, applied settings and restarted my machine. No files added or deleted and no cleanups etc involved, simple.
If ccp look into this and approve it, then maybe a link could be provided somewhere easy to find for new players, whom may have windws xp?
