Ok , i want to work out a per / second dmg spreadsheet for the weps and ammo i plan to install. kind of see what it looks like on 'paper' before buying etc.. OMG it is annoying me - can i buggery get it to add up correctly - i know the best ive hit with is 185 but when i try multiplying skills by dmg mods and ammo etc i get 58.5 - how come!!! any boffs out there got the easy solution? know a site that does it? have a sheet u can mail?
im also a little confused about how hard we can hit something - for instance - last night i was radomly getting 0.6!! - 185hp how the hell can there be such a difference? what needs training to stop this - i have 10 gunnery skills all at lvl 3 incl sharpshooter etc ... bah

I would be interested in this as well, and especially how resistances are brought into the equation.
If a ship sports 60% EM resistance, and the other has ammo doing 10 EM dmg (an example), does that mean the final EM damage delivered is 4 (after which the normal formulas calc the total damage) or is it 60% of the total damage per shot? It prolly is for EM dmg, but I'd like to be sure.

Hehe, I know what you feel. btw, instead doing new ones from scratch, feel free to use mine http://soltys.neostrada.pl/eve.htm. Those htmls load easily into excel.
Also don't try asking support or devs, they won't answer or they will tell they can't... :(

haha - i am glad im not the only one struggling i was beginning to think i was a bit stoopid. I have since come up with a very basic way to judge weps - i take the dmg mod and divide it by the rate of fire. this gives a dmg mod per second figure (i know this figure in reality means nothing but i need a base figure/formulae to make wep judging easier) the figures i use are always the base figure without skills bonus etc as this fig will be ratio'd up with all weps of same class i.e. medium hybrids. when i have this fig - it's then just a judgement call on distance and cpu/cap useage.
i know its not very technical but heh :) has anyone else got a system (as its getting real confusing making choices on weps now with so many showing up all the time with slight diffs)
the post above on dmg resists is something id not thought about and wanna know the answer now -
did i say the math was making my brain hurt - well now my brain hurts and i have blood coming from my ears ;) Manufacturer of fine cruisers All models made Free valet with every purchase 'The cruiser in front is from Vannessa corp' Contact: Vannessa ingame to negotiate prices |

Baseline damage for ammo is simple.
Take EMP M for example firing against a Minmater ships shields, you would do 100% of the ammo's EMP dmg (10/10), 60% of the explosive dmg (8/3.2) and 40% of the kinetic dmg(4/2.4). For a grand total of 15.6 baseline dmg.
Multiply that by your dmg mods and you have your baseline per shot damage total vs shields with that ammo.
Divide that by your RoF and you have your DPS (Damage Per Second).
The other factors that effect your baseline damage is range (and I do not know the actual formula for damage increase/decrease) and then tracking.
Tracking is the key to why you see hits from 1-100 at the same range.
There is a third formula, and I think that is merely a modified random chance to score Excellent, Perfect and Wrecking Hits.
