It might just be me going mental, but ever since QR whenever i've tried to dock or warp to 0 at a station, or a gate ive landed about 2km off of it.. not a big deal you may say, but it gives people time to bloody lock you, i almost lost my pod to this aswell as a few ships.
So is it me? or lag? or is anyone else getting this?

It has been like that since they put in warp to 0km. It actually puts you randomly 0-2500m from the object and just rarely I get thrown 3000m from the object.
If the station you are using is that hot, make a bookmark that is really 0km. --

Since I started playing EVE just over a year ago, whenever I warped to gates while in my pod, @ 75% of the time I had to still click approach to get within gate distance. Whenever I am in my ship I am usualy bouncing off of the gate

Bad luck, maybe, though I've noticed a slight statistical correlation. The odds of my being in instadock range tend to be inversely proportional to the presence of low standings players in system.
Inuddawerds, if the reds are lurking, count on being boned on arrival at your destination. I noticed this tendency pre-QR, too. Tested it when the alliance I was in was living in IAC space. When it was a system full of blues, instadocks every time. Put one red in local, and 800-1600m... REALLY annoying when you're a carrier pilot. In the event of an emergency, my ego may be used as a floatation device.

Confirming this, the other day I warped to a station in my pod after being killed and got podded before I could dock. ===== * Your signature file is broken. Please use an image that will display - Fallout

Thats not as fun as warping your outlaw pod in highsec to a gate, only to land 2700m off in Niarja
Too close for me.

I've seen this issue since long before Quantum Rise, usually only in pods, where you land 100-200m outside jump range on the stargates.

IIRC, it's done that way to prevent you from carrying to much momentum and then bouncing off of objects with bigger ships.
Since pods accelerate, slow, and turn faster than any other ship it does result in them being a bit further away when they come to a halt.

Edited by: Lorimer on 02/12/2008 22:43:42 I once petitioned a "wtf did i land 3.5Km from a lowsec station and get tripled webbed & ganked" when "i warped to 0" and was told by the gms "warp to 0 can land you anything up to 4KM from the object :/
This was months & months ago ... needless to say I dont assume warp to 0 is safe anymore

They should, therefore, change the wording to "warp to a random number between 0 and 4".

The catchment area for a gate is 2500m. Furthest I've been is about 2600 I think, and that isn't much - usually the momentum still helps.
As for stations, I notice that it's under 400m, and you might have to click dock twice - there are a few times I've been flying straight at the thing under 0km and it won't auto-dock.
I've never noticed this problem I'm afraid.

Edited by: Acinonyx Jubatus on 03/12/2008 00:24:14 Warping has always landed you within an imaginary sphere from the destination. You'll REALLY see this come into effect when with larger numbers... ever notice how all the ships are in a sphere? Well, there you go.
Warp to 0 doesn't actually places you on the item, to prevent bouncing, however, you land randomly within this sphere, sometimes it puts you at the back of the sphere, other times to the front, usually it's off to one of the sides and you never notice a thing.
As for pods, it's something to do with their size. I can't really explain it other than yet another imaginary field around the ship, the "hit detection" you can call it, where it decides the distance from the item that all things seem to have(hit detection is a loose term more like "area the item causes bumpage"). BS have much larger ones compared to pods, pods being tiny ofcourse, this leading to the pod's distance coming up short. You'll also notice the distance issue with frigs from time to time. I wish I knew the correct term... but it's there.

Would be nice if that'd work. Warping a Rorqual or an Orca "to 0" to a Corp Hangar Array will bounce me out of the force field 9 out of 10 times.

Usually a warp-to-zero on a can or corp-mate drops me withing 2000 meters or so, generally 2000 or less, rarely more. For jumpgates it tends to drop me a bit closer. Jump-range for a Stargate is 2500, so can jump right away.
