Due to the constant theft of ore while mining and baiting to get players to be able to be attacked and work around concord I feel that ccp should either put an option to lock jet cans with a password or bar people from opening other cans outside of a fleet.

yeah but those can't be anchored in the highest sec areas which are the best for veld and scord mining because its rat free.

you must be a young one
there was a time you could anchor cans wherever you want, but they removed it due to one billion litter bins in the hisec asteroid fields

Your ore, can I haz it?
TBH its your own fualt they can flip you, steal your ore, and if they can kill you.
This is how eve should stay and IMO you need to just buck up and take it or mine in lower sec space that has rats.

First off I'll say that I completely disagree with Re'taka. To say that getting your can flipped in the miner's fault is one of the top 10 dumbest things I've ever read on these foums.
However DevilsCry, this is not likely to change soon. Since a large enough percentage of the playerbase are pirates/canflippers. At least untill the next major patch, when there may be a large enough percentage of players that want it to finnaly change. Anyway, untill then there are several options to you to screw canflippers. A very good one is to join a corp that has at least one orca pilot, this prevents there from ever being another can while mining. Or if your more the solo type, consider a second account with a indy ship pilot that can ferry the ore back and forth. The simple fact of the matter is... No cans, no can flippers.

Acually as a matter of fact i have 2 accounts and my other guy is a badger 2 with T2 expanders problem is u cant trade directly between your guys so you have to put it in a can to swap the ore from ur barge to your indy.

Jetcan mining was and hopefully will always be a "dangerous" adventure. it's the way of eve, you always have to choose either the safe or the dangerous path. if you take the dangerous path and mine into a jetcan, you must be prepared that someone might come and take it. if you take the safe path you mine into a secured container, but the tiny cargosize slows the whole thing.
it's your turn to choose

0.5-0.7 rats are not difficult to tank. Cruisers easily fit a sufficient tank. Procurers/Retrievers/Covetors have a slightly harder time tanking, but then one step up to exhumers and again you have no issues tanking.
That brings you to step two. Using well placed giant secure containers you can easily manage a proxy between your miner and your hauler friend/alt.
Jettison Containers were implemented, as mentioned in another thread I read earlier, to 'get rid of excess junk in your cargo hold'. It is the 'owner' of said junk's fault if it gets taken by someone else, or moved over into a new junk-container, as he willingly (and with a warning) put it out in space. If he didn't want it flipped, he shouldn't have dropped it.
You ought to be grateful that CCP hasn't implemented AI into the 'hauler spawns' for NPCs that will make THEM come and steal your ore, along with killing you...
Also, people are not 'working around' CONCORD with stealing your ore or can flipping you - they are engaging in an act of repossession, which is as far as CONCORD is concerned perfectly legal. Further than that, they permit you to contest this repossession with use of deadly force. They're actually being really nice guys and giving you, the miner, a lot of leeway here.
Whether you make use of it or not is your problem, not CONCORD's.

Use an Orca and a player corporation - you can then either mine directly into its corporation hangar, or have it quickly tractor your jetcans from long range, reducing ore-theft potential. ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties... There is no need for CCP to change the jet-can mechanics. It could be argued that miners are exploiting the jetcan (designed for dumping stuff from your hold) as much as pirates are in stealing it. It's a pretty standard game mechanic that most people learn to deal with after a week or so in the game - learn anchoring 1 and get some Giant Secure Cans, you trade space for security - on the other hand continue jetcan mining but accept that the increased reward from doing so comes with additional risk.

He doesn't have to mine into a jet can, that's his fault, no jet can no can flipping...
Past that, He could watch whats going on a little better, if a known flipper enters his area he needs to move, if not then start hold mining, the flipper will get board and leave, so I stand by what I say.
If you get can fliped, and killed its your own fault.
BTW if thats then dumbest thing you ever read on the forums you are missing something. lol

....
So you want to be able to sit alone in a belt with no rats (therefore no risk) and make isk for no risk?
no
Also, it is blatantly the miner's fault if their can gets flipped and I say this as someone who has been flipper and flippee. Find somewhere the ore thieves aren't. It's quite easy to do.

People that tend to complain about can flipping don't want risk. They want isk with a mininum of effort. They are greedy.
Complaining on the forums and getting something changed is easier for them that putting up with a balanced mechanic in the game.

Even a Tormentor (frigate) can tank the rats in 0.5 systems long enough for its single drone to kill them. I can't see how you have a problem in any highsec systems.
PS: mine in lowsec or 0.0 and you can shoot the can-flippers
............. Now recruiting like-minded pilots. |
