So I was hauling around some stuffs to smelt into minerals, and went into a Modern Finances station. This is a corporation which is a member of the Caldari state. Seeing as my standings from Caldari State are 6.54, I was expecting little to no take from the corp on my refine; the problem is, they're saying my effective standing is only 1.2.
Everywhere I've been able to find, guides say that you need around 6.5 standing from the corp OR faction to get perfect refine- why is this station still wanting to take more than 4% of my stuffs?

For refining "tax", it's not corporation or faction. It's purely corporation standing. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Unless it has changed, the "or" is that you need either personal or corp standing with the NPC corp that owns the station. It has nothing to do with faction standings. And it's not 6.5, it's more like 6.67 or so.
But yes, there are a lot of things in Eve that totally suck. A big one is the faction standing requirement for anchoring POS towers in hi sec. It's virtually impossible for a functional corp to maintain such high standing, resulting in the proliferation of separate POS corps. But then the POS corp hangars and labs can only be accessed by members of the POS corp, so depending on how you use the POS you have to train up POS corp alts to be haulers or researchers. A massive fail in the POS mechanics is that POS corp hangars cannot be accessed by alliance members and alliance members cannot anchor their own corp hangars.
The only thing about hi sec POSs that works from an alliance standpoint is doing ME and PE research from corp offices in stations in the same system. Invention and Copying don't work and require either POS corp alts or handing off BPOs to POS corp members.
Another big fail is that although towers and labs can be named, corp hangars at a POS cannot be named. In the alliance context this really sucks. If you have more than one corp hangar at a POS you can only identify them by position, or by having an identifier inside such as a named bookmark, or by placing a named container nearby. Fail, fail, fail.

It's 6.67 to the corp for 0 refine tax.
For broker fees it's both corp and faction standing apparently.
