I believe is it theoretically possible to simultaneuously raise standings with all empires by running mission with certain neutral factions which have positive standing towards all four of the empires.
Initially, I started running missions for INTERBUS (one such neutral faction) but soon realised they have no storyline agents so increasing my faction standing is impossible (only my corp standing rises).
Specifically, I would like to raise my Gallente faction standing but it is currently too low for me to use Gallente agents to do this so I am looking at raising it by running missions for a third party. So far, only Sisters of EvE seem to offer storylines that would allow me to achieve this.
Does anyone know of any other neutral factions which offer storylines?

Unless your standing with Gallente is LESS than -0.5, you should just train Diplomacy which will raise your effective standing enough so that you can run level 1 missions for Gallente, or anyone else that you have negative standings of -5.0 with.
Diplomacy level 5 is the ticket.
if you REALLY want to go the associate route, where you get half your standings increase towards Gallente, run missions for Minmatar; they are the Gallente "allied" race.
If you're Caldari, it's Amarr, and vice-versa.

Its is possible by running misions for various combinations of corps to keep all 4 majors in the positive even with out diplomacy.
But there will be a fairly low cap on how high you can raise them if you go this route.
If you think corp is different than a guild or clan you have some insecurity issues.

With social 5, and running the right combination of caldari, SoE, minmatar, and a bit of Amarr, I think you can maintain all 4 major empire factions above 5, at least in theory (given that storylines vary greatly in standing payout, this can be rather complicated).

You can get to *ALMOST* +5 base with all empires by simply cycling the empires you run missions for - always run for those who you have the lowest standing with at the moment.
Just make sure to refuse each and every mission that has you kill ships of the enemy empire.

doesn't running missions for the SOE help with standings with all empires? Or is it just with SOE?

It helps with any factions which have positive standings towards SOE. Of the four empires this means primarily Gal and Min.

Firstly, thanks for the replies - your advice is appreciated.
Secondly, i've since been running missions for SOE which seems to have done the trick. After completing my first storyline mission both my gal and min faction standing increased by a significant amount although my cal and amarr standing did also drop (but by much less).
So it seems that it is indeed possible to use a combination of social skills plus running missions for the right factions to rebalance your standings - but this bcomes more difficult the lower your standings get so I don't plan on trying it with my -9ish negative standing with guri for example!

At best you can get stand of 2-3 with all major faction.
If you try to raise more, stand with ather factions will go down.
Long and worthless road...
