COME ON
It's bad enough having text disappear after typing it by selecting post or preview. And yes most players have gotten used to copy & paste before posting. The 'Replace saved Draft' option does retain and replace the text but it's never worked correctly from the start, it usually removes the last icon from each sentence or paragraph, basically removing punctuation marks, breaking quotes and links. Speaking of broken links, what's up with the 'Not able to parse BBC code'?
NO EXCUSE
Having to deal with long load times trying to connect or re-establish connection with the forums is an irritating nuisance, but constantly getting the 'We were ganked' page just makes it worse. Now the forums are also showing the '404 - page not found' notice with the Zephyr ship. The back arrow on browser doesn't work and the 'click here to go back' link doesn't work either. This results in having to bookmark the URL address back into the browser bar once again. Not only that, both the 'Mail' and 'Like' counters are not working. Unfortunately that also means no notice is received if someone posts to your thread.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Navigating these forums should be a quick easy enjoyable operation, not some long drawn out procedure when trying to switch from one thread to another, nor should aggravation be encountered whenever trying to respond or post a thread. These problems should have been corrected a long time ago. And no, I'm not gonna file a bug report. CCP knows damn well there's a problem with these forums. If these forums were actually working properly, the community probably wouldn't be so angry.
FIX IT ALREADY
Sorry, just needed to vent due to this going on for way too long.
I think we'd all be a lot happier if the forums worked properly, how about you? |

I think the real test of a programmer is whether he can write his own working version of an application which has already been around for 10 years and has several very good and cheap commercial deployments.
These forums are skinned nice, but the functionality is poor. Tears will be shed and pants will need to be changed all round. |

Meh, I'd just rather they just focus on fixing the game.
CCP's forum software is an abomination however, and if the Devs who created it were not part of the 20% that were sacked last year, they should have been. Maybe that's the problem, whoever built this is no longer around and they didn't document anything, which seems to be a re-occurring theme at CCP.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'no.' |

Yeah...while these forums are far better than the crap we had before...they still do leave something to be desired compared to other forums I use on a daily basis. I have noticed that the text in quick reply seems to dissapear on me when I take too long to type something out and post and a lot of updates have been made to that thread since I started typing. I want proper linked killboards. I want pictures in my forums. I want to be able to browse without being ganked. I want quicker response times. I want likes/posted in your thread notices to give me notice at least within a minute and not within the hour.
I want all this and more.

Of course there is a difference in skill-sets, but I did not imply otherwise. Thanks for pointing out the obvious though.

You said that you'd rather they fix the game instead. This implies that you feel they should pull manpower off of the forums and have him work on the game, to which point he may just stand there and stare at a screen depending on if he actually has any skills as a game designer or not. If the above is not the case then the statement is becomes clear that you believe a corporation such as CCP is incapable of multi-tasking. Therefore in order for the actual game designers to work, the web designer must take an extended vacation. Apparently working on both projects simultaneously is too complicated. On top of that, if the website developers were in fact laid off last year we would in fact be seeing a forum that is in much worse shape than it is now, as was the case about 2 months back when everyone started getting the ganked page. It is also quite apparent that you have no idea what is involved in any field that centers around a programming or scripting language. |

Wow, you sure seem to think you know a lot about me and what you think I believe based only on your assumptions and not anything I actually said. It's also quite "apparent" you have no idea what my background is. You must be a wizard! I know nothing about you. Didn't say a single thing about your lifestyle or your background. I do know a few card tricks but I'm no David Blaine. Your above statement has absolutely nothing to do with ccp or web development. |
