I am not at all complaining because i had a blast so lets get that straigt, just curious if this is a new thing. I fully accept in-game consequences to the choices i make.
With that said. Im Ninja mining 0.0(undislosed location) I am doing the hit and arkonor run on some roids in a 400+ km belt.. I keep close eye on 3 generals and 4 centurions who keep chasing me from rock to rock. I have a indy sitting in a safespot(Non-Aligned) with my micro base and go to drop off this load. i warp in drop my ore... look over the to the other comp and see 7 + symbols. This was a narrow escape but they followed my ship back to the safespot. Is this normal or did it just recently change?
Im just curious thanks! ----------------------------------------------- SAY NO TO SAFE SPOT REMOVALS! ----------------------------------------------- |

how far is your safespot from anything?
one strategy for making them I heard put it about I think 9.1au from the nearest things..
then I was told thats not very safe at all... and was given a strategy to get 100au+ away.
I'm not entirely clear on those things either. I'd say it'd more than slighty suck for rats to be able to chase you back...

Ill have to check on the distance, there was something weird though i neglected to mention. I had some secure containers out. I warped back in after waiting a while with my mining cruiser and accidently landed 2k from a general.. in my apparent panic to evade and deliver myself to redemption i was sluggish getting the warp on... They didnt not lock me, nor did they fire they just sat there. So i decided to do a 60km warp in which put me at about 37km from them in relationsion to my bookmark i waited and waited with no lock....they just camped there. ----------------------------------------------- SAY NO TO SAFE SPOT REMOVALS! ----------------------------------------------- |

I would concider the 100AU method an exploit my self.. Since it's a bug that gets you there. Just my opinion though.
So dunno.

Well scanner range is something like 14'ish au so a really good bookmark certainly doesn't need to be 100 au.
I have discovered similar behaviour with NPCs that just sit there. Eventually mine came back to life again though (may have had something to do with me firing on them for awhile though). Apparently the AI code can get confused if the situation is right.

I've had that happen 3 times in 0.0 now. They just sit and twiddle their thumbs for a bit and usually follow me too the next belt I go too.
I assume its a bug because it happened in a 0.6 system last night. 6 rats hovering near a station was an interesting site, especially for all the haulers. |

I would like to get a clerification on the twiddling NPC.
When you came back and found the NPC were you using the same character that they followed to the "safespot"?
I ask this as I suspect the NPC may have been set to hunt a specific foe, when their target disaperes they would simply hang around waiting to see if their target would gome back...
As I have not myself observed this behavior I have no way of knowing if this is the case but it would be a feather in CCP's hat if they did do this :)
