Hi there :)
After weeks of training i'm finally able to fly a sleipnir command ship. Been for some time away and still not aware of the changes that have been made recently. Could anyone light up for me the subject of fitting a sleipnir in qr ? For small scale pvp fleets to 5-10 people mostly in cruisers, bcs, bs's. Would be really grateful. Including implants, rigs. The best would be t2 fit, although if itd reasonable i wouldnt mind some faction mods there :) Also how much has it changed since making ? Is it better ? Capable of defeating other command ships or even battleships ? I'd like you to elaborate on this subject, thx

Congratulation for your training on this amazing ship.
The recent patch did not hurt the sleipnir at all.
You still have great versatility and can use from 220 autocanons to hit small ships or even 425 for more damage, and beleive it, you can fit it with 650's for nasty punch too. I used all these different setups and they do wonders, trust me.
Beside fleet battles, I think this ship served me with the most kills.
For your mids, either passive tank with invulnerability shields and large shield extender or shield booster. 2 schools here. I dislike the shield booster option as it uses lots of caps, unless you fit a cap booster. But this also takes a med slot away, which again I dislike. Put a warp disruptor in your meds for sure and of course a MWD.
Regarding rigs, I use a speed/manoeuvrability + damage/tracking rig.
Medium or small drones in bay.
Overall, an amazing ship that will bring you lots of kills and great fun.
Enjoy.

why would you passive tank a ship that has a bonus to shield boost? not flaming, I just fail to see the logic behind it. I've been considering this ship for a very long time, and you've got my attn. atm

small gang sleipnir
7x 220mm vulcan autocannon II (barrage , rf emp or rf pp) 1x skirmish warfare ganglink
10mn mwd II dread guristas x-large shield booster 1x invuln II 1x invuln II / warp disruptor II 1x medium electrochemical cap booster (800s)
3x gyrostab II 1x iffa damage control 1x local inertia stabilizer
rigs
1x kin shield rig 1x I can't remember (em rig? or core defence extender)
3x hammerhead II, 2x hogoblin II
implants
lg crystal set, rate of fire, tracking and medium AC damage implants and a skirmish warfare mindlink. cheap version you can get the shield ammount implant
If you have tacklers run with 2 invulns or an invuln and a shield boost amp.
capable of taking burst damage and can win mythical 1 v1 against some battleships, however is a good ship to have in a gang. if a claymore / other fleet ship is present, drop teh ganglink for a medium neutralizer to help with frigate defence or a missile launcher for max dps. Season with RF gyro stabs and other expensive shinys such as CN invulns :)
passive tanks work well too, 425's on high with LSE's and invulns. Friends tell me the AB sleip is good for low sec as it's speed helps defeat tracking, not tried that yet tho.
and enjoy.

Missing a med slot (i'd suggest an MWD) and i'd use a nuet instead of the nos, to kill smaller ships.

Hello.
Your question makes total sense.
I am just talking from experience, it may sound sily, but I'd rather use cap to MWD around rather than using it for both shield booster and MWD. The cap is not the best asset of the ship and loosing a med slot for a cap booster is bugging me. Therefore, the passive tank option buys you some lifetime to move away.
Beside, I would say that in most of the cases, having to use the shield booster means that you are already dead...
Again, I have used both setups and not having to worry too much about cap and shield when fighting, concentrating on target and ship movements has worked way more efficiently, for me anyway.

This.
I flew the Sleipnir for about a year. The most common setup for solo gankage in low-sec would have to be passive.
If you have the skills, experience, and modules to go "fast", then I would recommend shield booster, but active shield tanking shines with VERY expensive fittings and the "speed nerf" may contradict the "fast".
Point, I would go passive in low-sec and not roam 0.0 without friends.
Congratz and Good Luck!

I use this a lot when I rat. Well my mids are a bit different. Plus I don't see the point in 800 caps. I prefer something like 200s. I always try to match my cap boost to my shield boost. The cap is there to fight against nos/neut, nothing else. _________ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

WTB your sleipnir with 6 med slots!!!!
No seriously, this is it for med slots: 1 MWD 2 invulnerability shields 1 large shield extender 1 warp disruptor
Be careful with over using the large shield extenders, as they increase your signature radius, which makes you way easier to hit.

remember to space out the invulns in fitting so you can overheat for longer, it really adds to your tank in those eeek moments

Put passive mods between your active mods so that when you overheat the rack, the overheated mods don't heat each other up directly. (Thereby leading to faster heating and breakage.)

Doubt you have to Skills to kill that Solo.. From looking at your KB.
But back on topic.. Fit it Passive,Buffer,Profit. Lag in battles can make or break if your primary or toast. You leave a SB on too long and u lag spike poof no cap no rep no tank. That rep Boni is great for tanking Missions. --Yarring in a system near you--

it's not been flown for a while now :) amarr CS and BC's are just better.
The passive tank is great for laggy situations, i just prefer the active one as you tend to be (rightly or wrongly) called primary in a CS but the lag can make you over boost and loose cap. In QR because of your mobility and fights generally taking a bit longer, active tanks are getting a bit of a boost so passive isn't the clear winner

hey draggy, long time no see.
i am also just starting to fly this ship. here is what i been using on test server this last week. see what you guys think:
Highs- 7 425mm Auto canons T2 (Barrage Ammo) 1 Medium Energy Neut T2
Mids- 3 Large Shield Extender T2 1 Warp Disrupter T2 1 10mn MWD T2
Lows- 3 Gyrostabilizer T2 2 Overdrive Injector T2
Rigs- 2 Core defense field extenders
Drones- 5 hob t2
speed = 1580 m/s total shields 20166 with my skills no implants EFT says dps is 638
The neut you can run infinitely. Warp in, get orbit, shoot and drain cap then stuff goes boom. I thought about fitting a shield tank but being gall spec'ed i really don't have good shield skills atm plus i am new to all these rust bucket ships

Might want to drop a OD for a DC and one extender for an invun field. And after that, work on your shield skills, as this ship really shines with a booster.

it's a matter of finding balance of tank and gank for sentry work, the extended ones can do it, so can the x-large booster ones. faster you kill, fatser you are away
a couple of PDU's can boost a tank nicely, but you really want the 3 gyros to get the damage.
and with the changes in QR sig radius is importnat now, however as a CS your sig size is already pretty big so LSE II's won't make you take that much more damage.
try both is my suggestion and find which suits your playstyle and who is in your gang.

The ship really shines with good skills. I fit mine with the following I have some faction here n there its cheap mans faction you know the reasonably priced kind.
Highs- 7x 220 IIs - Barrage I get like what 19 20k fall off without any ambits with my skills. 1x Medium neut for those small twits who try to tackle n sig tank me.
Meds-
1x X-L Dread Guristas Shield booster 1x Invul II 1x Republic fleet Warp disruptor 30km range :D 37 overloaded its win sometimes people wonder why they cant run. 1x Dark blood Injector 1x 10mn t2 mwd << didnt really bother with faction here.
Lows -
3x Gyro II 1x damage control 1x Internal nanofibre II
Rigs -
Thermal and kinetic screen reinforcers.
The thing tanks 800 or so dps when the booster is active really you should be orbiting targets who can do alot of damage to you at range and shooting them with barrage any damage you can tank.
Depending on target you have you decide how close you want to be obviously.
I do about 600 yo 700 dps. ----------------------------------------------- Stop removing my Sig its fine!!!! Nerf Moderaters. |

ITT: internet tough guys
Personally i'd rather invest in a HG Crystal than an expensive booster because your pod usually survives in lowsec even if your ship does not. That said if you have the money why not and the dg one is quite reasonably priced iirc.
Other then that passive works just fine but i am old fashioned. I'll always use a booster. --
