Last night I engaged a local pirate at a gate (k4rl) the fight was evenly matched to begin with, but after a little while it became obvious I was going to emerge the victor. At this stage his corpmate Mafish logged on and proceeded to the gate to meet us in his raven (I was in a tanked typhoon, k4rl was in a tanked tempest and mafish was in a raven)
Unable to escape I had no choice but to battle on, I switched to mafish as my main target and begain the bombardment. My armour was dwindling but at the same time...so was mafish.. to my amazement they both warped out.
Now I know that:
a) logon tactics are now legal anyway 
b) Sneaky tend to play in an internet cafe, so even if it were still an exploit it would be a border line case
but goddam that was sneaky

Cant really prove anything by 1 person supposedly logging on just to help his friend. Maybe if u were fighting 1 and then 10 of them appeared in local and handed u ure arse, then maybe it would seem obvious but only 1 person turning up? :/ He was prolly logging on anyways and saw in corp chat something was happening or asked if anything was happening.
Theres no proof that what u said is true so unless ure just having a whine on forums then its not really a good idea to come on making accusations like that when theres no proof. Besides, we all know that sneaky are nice people and would never do anything dodgy :D
Oh, and it kinda helps when uve got the sentry guns on ure side eh ;)

and as for the sentry guns.....untill very recently I was -7.8 (spent 2 weeks ratting in 0.0) you dont have to remind me about sentry guns I know all too well what sentries can do for a guy. when I first engaged he was 38k from me. I didnt have mwd or ab, he chose to fight. he was probably going to lose. I'm not bitter really just using it as a good oppertunity to gloat
had I lost my ship I would probably have been wining a little bit more

:) Guess this logging on thing depends, whether it was an intentional trap where people wait on theyre character logon screen waiting for someone to attack theyre m8 and then logon as soon as fighting begins or whether he just sees his friend fighting at the lan center and decides to help him. That way its not an intentional trap ( unless he admitted it was one? :/ ) but if it wasnt an intentional trap then it was just fortunate for karl, or unfortunate for u :P

That way its not an intentional trap ( unless he admitted it was one? :/ ) but if it wasnt an intentional trap then it was just fortunate for karl, or unfortunate for u :P

I didnt say it was an exploit, just said it was "sneaky" its impossible to check for such things using game mechanics, which is exactly why this sort of thing is currently being reviwed by the devs.

rawr i play at that net cafe and i can vouch for them saying they wernt there last night, it closes at 10:30pm BST and it was 11pm+ when the engagment occured  (i was listening on TS) and i heard that everyones buddy bl3ach logged on just after mafish... where you planning the same thing there eddie?
at least its proved my theory wrong, you arnt as nubbish as everybody previously thought

hehe i havent read ne of this i got onto "log on traps are legal" me and k4rl were on ts and desided to go hunting i logged on in aedald he was in bosena he jumped into half as i was opening eve i dont agree with log on traps. very well played nice set up you had there wish i had had 6 explosive cruise loaded then ya woulda been toast ;)
