Edited by: stalefish on 27/07/2004 18:34:53 Edit for new details:
The tournament will be at pokerroom.com on saturday 7/31/04 at 12pm California time. It should be 19:00 eve time. Can somebody double check for me please?
1. First and foremost, create an account at pokerroom.com. You have to be at least 18 years old to make one. If you can, please make the account name something similar to your character name in Eve, e.g. stalefish720, or what not(account-creation is free btw). MAKE SURE THIS IS DONE IN ADVANCE, WAAAAY BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT DATE. (Send me an eve-mail with your email address, and real name if you want a $25 bonus on your pokerroom.com account).
2. Meet in channel "EVE Poker" with no quotes at the specified time. If the game has already started, you cannot join anymore. I'll keep you posted on the next tournament though.
3. Send me the buy-in amount (2 million ISK this time around) when you are in the channel, then I will add you to the poker table. Buy in at the table with 1000 chips.
4. Blinds will double when 1 or 2 people get dropped from the game. This depends on the number of people playing in the beginning. Pokerroom.com doesn't let you adjust the blinds "on the fly," so I'll have have to create a new table with higher blinds and re-invite the remaining players. (I know, it's kinda annoying, but a tournament without blinds being raised will take too long).
5. The pay-out structure will depend on the number of people originally playing. I will like to have a minimum of 6 players, and a maximum of 10.
With 6 players, the pay out structure will be: 1st place: 9 million ISK 2nd place: 3 million ISK
With 7 players- 1st place: 10.5 million ISK 2nd place: 3.5 million ISK
With 8 players- 1st place: 12 million ISK 2nd place: 4 million ISK
With 9 players- 1st place: 12 million ISK 2nd place: 4 million ISK 3rd place: 2 million ISK
With 10 players- 1st place: 12 million ISK 2nd place: 5 million ISK 3rd place: 3 million ISK
With 2-5 players- 1st place: 100% of the pot
6. If you leave in the middle of the tournament, you will forfeit all your ISK. There are no refunds for obvious reasons.
I'm busy until Saturday, July 31st. Keep in mind that I might have to cancel on that date if something comes up. So until then, please post what's a good time for most of you on 7/31/04. (I'm in california, so you guys have to figure out what day that is in your time zone.) Please post the time that you're available in eve-time.
----------------------- Mini-tournaments/ring games!
I'm thinking having 1 million ISK no-limit mini tournaments/ring-games in the meantime. Check the channel "Eve poker" with no quotes and see if I'm in there. Make sure and say "Hi" so that my screen will flash. If I'm there, I'm willing to play. I'm down to play heads-up to a full-blown 10 player tournament/ring-game whenever.
Details will be similar to the top post.
Buy-in: 1 million ISK. Send the ISK to me in the channel (if there's 3 or more players involved), and I'll invite you to the table. IF it's heads up, then the loser will just pay the winner, so it's unnecessary to send me the ISK beforehand.
At the table: buy-in with 1000 chips. For a ring game, each chip is worth 1000 ISK.
You can cash-out whenever you like, unless we all agree that it's a tournament beforehand.
----------------------- Original Post:
I remember reading a thread a while back about this, and supposedly, it was a success. I'm considering hosting one if I can get about 6 people interested in playing. This will be a tournament style, no-limit texas hold-em game with 1 or possibly 2 winners. I'm thinking of setting the buy-in in between 2-5 million ISK to start with.
I'll probably set the rules and logistics similar to what was done before...
1. Meet in a specified channel at a specified time.
2. Create a yahoo games account with your character name, or one similar to your character name, e.g. stalefish1. (a new account has to be made so everyone will have the same number of chips).
3. When you're in the channel, send me the buy in amount. I'm still debating if we should get an ISD member to hold the ISK. It'll be nicer for the trust issue, but it might take longer to get the tournament rolling (harder to verify if participants paid, and take a little longer for the winner to receive winnings. (Gonna look into it though).
3b. If I decide not to get an ISD guy to hold the ISK, I might start with a smaller buy-in, just to build reputation just in case people feel uncomfortable transferring 2-5mil ISK to me.
4. Winner takes all. Maybe second place will get the buy-in back. Haven't decided yet.

Anyday if it's after 01.30 gametime :)

Cool man, I hope we can get more people playing. I think this will be fun. What's "home"?
And we can play with more than 6 players... I feel 6 is the minimum to make it worthwhile.

hehe, ok.
Glad to see that people are interested. If I don't go with the ISD guy to hold the ISK, what do you think is a fair buy-in amount?
Also, I'm from California. What time would be optimal for you guys?

I'd like to be in as well, but last time you played from an american timezone point of view. If that is the case again, then I will not be able to play... please make the game playable for european players and I'll put up 5M isk for my part :)

This from a member of a Pirate corp who's own attempt at making an event that was pretty much discovered to be a scam failed miserably. Just because you're miffed you didn't succeed, no reason to trying to denounce other people in saying their own events were scams... ---------------------------

agreed
I'd love to play, but make it weekends since I never know when I'm on in the weeks. And there has to be some nice freeware software out there. *starts looking*
And come on, a few mill... If you can afford to lose that on poker, then you can afford to trust someone that seems serious with them too. Not all ppl are cheap pirate scammers like you Jurassica.
