Edited by: Zahraid on 10/12/2008 18:41:33 Okay so I am going to take the plunge to LVL 4 Amarr missions. LVL 3 Missions became way to boring.
What I need is some advice on my ship setup and any other good advice others here can provide.
Ship: Navy Issue Apocoplyse
Lows: 1x Amarr Navy Large Armor Repairer 3x Heatsink II's (soon to be replaced by Amarr navy Heat Sinks) 4x NPC damage specific Armor Hardener IIs
Mids: 4x Cap Recharger IIs
Highs: 8x Mega Modulated Pulse Energy Beam I (using Amarr navy Microwave & Multi crystals)
Drones: 5x Hammerhead 5x Hobgoblin
Rigs: 2x CCC I 1x Aux Nano pump
So do you think the above fitting will get me through most amarr Lvl 4 missions? I have researched this forum and I use the online mission guides so I know not to aggro everything in a mission.
Would I be better served by a Abbadon? I am currently skilling up for a Paladin.
Any and all advice is very much appreciated. |

drop the aux nano pump, your tank will be WAY enough, put on a CCC instead. drop a CR II for a tracking comp /w range script. Always carrier Radio L with ya (as long as you cant use t2 with scorch), shooting above 80km will thank you for taking out smaller stuff from far away.
that is my fit as well. ;) already got 2 AN HS, another will come. ;D

Wow already donning faction stuff soon. Lv 4s will be just as boring for you, I think. lol It's only challenging when there's a semi-decent chance to go BOOM. =) --------------------

lvl4s are not there to be fun or thrill, they are there to pay for your pvp-ships

Thank you for the feedback. Seems first Mission up tonight is Angel Extravaganza. I hope there are no really surprises in this one.
Are there missions I should regect outright? Either due to them being to hard or not worth doing?

Angel Extravaganza is one of the most profitable level 4's. In a Amarr ship will be quite a challenge though. May the force be with you.

Uh, Angel-rats are the only time i would suggest a dual-LAR setup. drop one TC for a CR II and one HS for another LAR. Then swap Hards fcourse.
reject? if its quick, i even do the obligatory haul-mission as it brings me closer to storylines (but only if its not too far off ).

it takes slightly longer.
although you might want a web, just because a lot of stuff will orbit at 10k and under. oh and the biggest bs is the trigger for the next wave.
oh and for an amarr bs if it says the cap lasts more than 10 mins is probably is enough cap, just a few seconds pause inbetween firing. my paladin lasts a bit under 6 mins according to eft, although only firing 2 guns leaves it at 50%, all level 5 can run 3 guns and never run out, been meaning to do controlled bursts 5. and a few seconds of not firing every now and then leaves it around 30-40% (usually due to running 2 accounts, and not just not firing, will sometimes turn the rep off for a bit)

I suppose it depends on if you have good gunnery skills (no problems in the whole mission tank wise until the bonus room, everything goes boom so fast with tach paladin), and/or want to do the bonus room (heh tanked it with an unrigged damnation).
with low gunnery skills yea dual rep can be nice for angels. although I have a bad habit of throwing too many damage mods and not enough tank on my ship.

I agree with the suggestions. Basically if I haven't ran a mission yet, and the eve-survival guide makes it seem pretty heavy (main thing to look for is how many battleships do you need to tank at once - and are there scram frigs), fit one extra tank mod in low, leaving off a damage mod.
If you're doing really awesome, you can warp out to fit more gank. Just be really paranoid, and stay aligned. At first it pays to be a little paranoid, and have extra tank while you're learning the new ship and missions. --------------------

Lows: 1x Centus C-Type LAR 1x Amarr Navy LAR 4x Rat Spec Shadow Serpentis Hardener 2x Heat Sink II
Mids: 3x Cap Recharger II 1x Shadow Serpentis TC
Highs: 8x Mega Mod. Pulse I ( Amarr Navy MF, AN Standard, AN Inf, AN Radio)
Rigs: 3x CCC I
DualRep because im a bit paranoid :) Cap stable with one repper, with second repper running ive to disable weapons, then i got <11mins to kill scram rats and gtfo. Im running missions in Caldari space, but i will switch to amarr space soon.
With my skills i get 492dps at 20km, at 39km 328dps, 47km 287dps and with radios at 63km 205 dps, thats what eft says
Will that be enough for l4 missions?
Changing the Centus C-type and AN Repper for two LAR II and one hardener for a CPR II would make it fully cap stable with all mods running, would that be a better idea? Or is the Centus clearly enough, with my implants it reps 1019armor each 11.7 seconds.

To OP: You should get t2 pulses ASAP so you can use scorch ammo. Otherwise you're going to have range issues in some missions.
I'd probably use something like this against em/therm-dealing rats:
8x mega pulse ii
2x cap recharger ii 2x tracking computer
LAR EM hardener Therm hardener EANM 4x heatsink
CCC II 2x CCC I
With navy MF, 4x navy heatsinks, you're looking at 827 dps out to 27 km (with optimal scripts in tracking comps) from turrets only. 911 dps with CX-2 and G2-Epsilon implants. 727 dps with scorch out to 81 km with the implants, which is pretty uber dps at that range, not even including drones. You'll need a CR8 or CC8 implant to permarun if you want to use that amarr navy LAR. May need to use 3 heat sinks and 4 hardeners against other rat types, but with so much offensive firepower, you probably won't need more than the 2 hards and EANM against bloods/sanshas. Always remember: you don't have to tank wrecks.

Remember that drones are your best friends in L4's in any battleship.
You need to learn how to use drones and not lose them, and you REALLY should get to T2 drones as fast as possible (with Drone Interfacing at level 3-4).

T2 guns, a long way for me to go :(
But T2 drones are no problem, and scoop is my second name :)
Question is, will t1 guns deal enough dmg to take the rats out, speed doesnt really matter for now, since this is the biggest gun i can fit. As long as i can tank, shoot and finnish the mission im okay with it.

yes, T1 guns are enough for missions, given you have them at 4 and decent support skills for them
