I'm in the process og getting myself a new computer. BUT but but. I'm paying for 5 accounts, so i would like a powerfull computer to run thise accounts at the same time. As of right now, I have a AMD atlon 64 X2 Dual 4600+ "2,41 Ghz. clock freq." with 2 gig of RAM. + a GForce 7800 GT GFX card. I'm looking for a new computer that will be fast enough to run 4 accounts fluidly. I only play this game, so no need for supreme power of anything besides running 4 clients.
thanks in adv. I have around 8-1000 USD

More ram and a better gfx card should do the trick.

I'm gonna join in and partially hijackthis thread as I'm also looking at computers and wondering if anyone can recommend some good laptops/notebooks?

if you can afford it, a quad core CPU would be perfect for this - 1 core for each client (since they can only run on one core at a time (I think)). Also, I would recommend an Nvidia GeForce 8800 or later graphics card for best performance. I'm still not sure if it could handle 4 clients, but it should be able to handle 2 or 3 at least with reasonable framerates. If you want better performance you could even go with dual cards connected via SLI. As for ram, you should probably aim for 4 gig if you want to run that many clients, but you might be able to get away with a bit less.
Not really sure on cost of all this, since I haven't done much in the way of computer-DIY, so don't quote me.

When you're at it, and your current one runs EVE fine, then I'd actually suggest using both comps at once and distributing the Clients in whatever combination works best.

IMO the best way would be to do this:
Get as fast a quad core as you can afford preferably a black edition CPU from AMD get a board that supports SLi, run 2 8800GTs or whatever above that you can afford Run Vista or XP 64 bit as that is the only way any of your applications will actually be able to utilize 4 gb or more of RAM
That's it. That should run just about anything under the sun fine.
When you start talking about that kind of memory usage it's best to run 64 bit since that OS can physically address 4 GB of RAM or more, thereby making it accessible to applications. People that run CAD or heavy video editing stuff do this. Otherwise you're limited by the 32 bit kernal and anything over about 3.3 GB of RAM is ****ing in the wind.

EVE does NOT fully support SLI setups.

Just get a new card as the ram and cpu are fine. I have a c2d e6750, 2 gig ocz reaper ddr3 ram with a gf8800gtx and 4 classic plus 1 premium run flawlessly especially after the 1.0.3 patch.
