will it help if i overlap probes when trying to find a plex with a very weak strength?

Can't overlap the probes (meaning, can't have another probe within an already active probe's scan area), and I don't believe it would help, since they scan independently. In the event of an emergency, my ego may be used as a floatation device.

as long as teh probe itself is not in anothers prob area you can indeed overlap.
The probes AREAS OF EFFECT overlap - not the probe itself.
Normally this improves your hit rate - As to the ops specific question i would not know

Yes, it will help. However, note that you can't have another probe in a probe's scan radius, so you can't just drop them all at the same location and scan away, you'll have to position them at least half the scan range of each other, but in a way that they still intersect the expected complex location.

When you have two probes covering the are you improve your chances to hit in theory. But there are detrimental effects of interference(depending on relative placement of probes and what you're looking for), reducing signal strength and thus chanses to hit and accuracy. Putting probes so the target is exactly between them is generally a bad idea. _____________ I don't care what is nerfed, as long as it's not my "undock" button. |

Haven't the probe makers heard of interefometry or triangulation. Logically 2 probes should be beter since you can ompare results

Actually @ one time it did make sense as you had to use 3 probes instead of just one. But dropping three probes meant unless the person AFK or blind the odds of probing them out before they laugh and warp was well very rare. So CCP reduced it to one.
