On UK tv they have started showing Seven Days late at night as a replacement to Star Trek TNG which ended it's full run through a week ok.
It was about a machine that could send a himan back in time exactly seven days (hence the title) in order to undo events that threaten the earth, or national security.
I believe after 9/11 the idea lost it's luster seeing as they couldn't really explain to the audience how they couldn't "back step" to fix it. I don't agree, but thats networks for you.
However, some of the plots were interesting.
Does anyone remember it?

I remember it well.
According to Wikipedia, it got axed before all that, though even if it had not been, I think plots such as the nerve gas attack on DC episode would have done the trick. As with Messiah 2, I guess people cannot be trusted to keep fantasy and reality separate in their minds.
I have to say though, nuclear sub disaster episode - meh. Yeah, you can breathe through a gel. Where have I seen that before?

Good program, I just always wondered why he never bumped into himself, and more importantly, if he did vanish as such from his time line like people say he did, why everyone always shocked and supprised when he came back lol.
Strange program, but good

Seven days was ok, not the greatest series and had a lot of holes in the science and the story and the ethics and the origins and the acting was iffy and the graphics werent that good.
but yeah it was ok

Edited by: P''uck on 14/12/2008 02:16:56 I actually watched it for a bit. But how the story went... that kind of reminded me of "the invisible man".
Both are rather crappy shows, cheaply shot and all, but the pilot showed potential with some nifty ideas. Nothing great, but definetly some refreshing light sci-fi entertainment.
Then, in the first few episodes they pretty much burnt all their powder. well, there is only so much stuff you can do, and let's not kid ourselves, even the original star trek didnt need much more than just 5 to ten episodes before it started to repeat itself.
But I rather have some stuff that is really entertaining for a few episodes and then gets shot down than things like -yuck- stargate, which more than just overstays its welcome.
To sum it up, I really (really really) liked the pilot of "Seven days", which pretty much did everything there can be done with that story. Rest was filler.

That was actually covered really well in the show, I wonder if you even paid attention, because it also made up for a big part of the story and, in my opinion was quite entertaining at times. Also, for the second part of you wondering: people were shocked because they knew when he comes back, theyre basically screwed really bad. Because he -normally- didnt get sent back just for bagels and hot coffee.

It was an all right show with an interesting concept but was cut short because it aired on UPN. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

As I recall, it has a 7 day recharge time between use. You can easily explain away any RL disaster not being undone by having them occur shortly after a backstep to fix a "major" problem that wasn't as bad as the RL occurring one. Would actually get some good plot points out of it this way.

I think it was actually a combination of the design of the sphere and the limited amount of alient fuel that they had to power the sphere that prevented them from going back more than seven days and not going back for all but the most important disasters (though there are a few episodes where they went back for personal reasons if I recall). -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

Interesting concept, but isn't there a simple way to get around the 7 days limitation? Just keep going in the machine over and over again until you're as far back as you want to be? ____________________

Yes, to 10, 12 or 42 days, that is the new special number. It's 7 days as that's always been a mythical number capturing the imagination of feeble minds.
