Is it possible to make money buy buying blueprints of say Battleships researching them up to a fairly high material efficiency and then dicing them up and selling them?
I want to make sure I have all my facts correct before I write this off as a no. So lets say I buy a Dominix BPO for 562,500,000. I spend some time researching it and get it up to ME 49 or so. Now when I break this into copies I will get 2 Dominix BPCs of 10 runs. So I could break this down into 20 copies with 1 run each. Now I look on contracts and these are selling for a paltry million isk. What am I missing here? With these assumptions these people would be losing half a billion isk off of these BPCs. I am sorry if this is answered somewhere, I tried to find the answer and was unable.

You don't "break them down" into copies. You simply make copies from the original. Say you put the aforementioned Dominix blueprint into research to make a dozen copies. When it's over, you still have your original plus a dozen copies. You can sell the copies, manufacture from them, invent from them, give them away, wipe your ass with them, or whatever you want. You still have the original. Selling copies is just one way of making extra money using the blueprint.
However, blueprints vary with all the research times. Some of them have horrendously long copy times, and it might wind up being better to just manufacture and never make copies. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

You can copy the BPO an infinite amount of times. So you could put it copy to get 20 1 run BPC's or 20 5 run BPC's etc as many times as you like.

It should also be mentioned that you should never research a battleship to 49. I suppose some buying copies expect them in that range, but its still goofy. Keep in mind that even though you will be able to copy that bpo forever, in the example given you will still have to sell 500+ copies just to get your money back - not a great investment.

Yes but it doesn't hurt to buy battleship BPO at cheap prices if they have researched them to me 50 for you.

I would say there are more lucrative businesses in EVE than selling BPCs, but if you have an alt with a few spare research/copy slots and an accessible ME lab slot - it can make a nice supplement to your income without too much a hassle.

The most annoying part about selling BPCs, is that you have to make contracts for them, often individually as there isn't a view that summarises the number of runs / stats etc without showing each contract :\

You can always put the ME and PE levels in the contract description. Caveat emptor, however. If buying you should always check the contract to make sure the actual BPC matches the description. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |
