I new to PVP and am looking at doing some, I have good gun skills and good drone skills and can fit t2 blasters, my question is which ship is best 4 solo pvp against other battlecrusies such as the amarr and gallent ships. What set up should I fit nos/neuts or blasters and what are there strenghs and most importantly there weakness. pls remember i can not use rails so these set ups are no good to me at the moment.

Brutix = Gank (and cheap too!) Myrmidon = Tank + EWAR/Logistics
Either one will solo adequately, but a gank Brutix won't last too long under gate guns and a Myrmidon may have trouble breaking certain tanks.

Edited by: Diomidis on 13/12/2008 07:44:38 The Brutix is more straightforward than the Myrmidon: IMHO is nothing more than an all-out dmg boat for someone that doesn't want to risk / cannot afford / is not skilled high enough for a Blaster BS, yet capable enough to provide BS class dps when allowed to approach really close. That's pretty much it...
The Myrmidon on the other side, can be quite a support ship in a gang, and relatively more viable in solo PvP...just do not overestimate yourself: let your opponents underestimate you. The slot layout and bonuses allow you to use multiple forms of ewar, like Neuts, Tracking Disruptors etc, along with a way more powerful tank compared to the Brutix.
Tho it's anti BS/BC capabilities are dent due to various "fixes" (I think it was really overpowered with NOS + 5x Heavies, thus I don't call it nerfed), the Myrm is good at butchering cruisers and frigates. And frigates are really the FOTM for roaming pvpers these days, thinking that their scram will MWD disrupt to death everything...when the only viable defense against these ships is Neuts + small drones, what's best than a ship with neuts + bonused small drones, along with some hi-tracking turrets that also tanks good?
The Myrm can kill most things that could out-track a Harbinger's lasers, or signature/speed tank a Drake's HAMs, while providing a viable perma-tank against a limited number of AFs etc, unlike the above BCs that are usually buffer tanked and eventually could be bleed to death.

for piracy a tanked brutix is to be prefered over the myrm since gate guns will pop your drones.

I find the Brutix far more fun to fly, but it was a complete ***** to fit without AWU 3/4. The Myrm is much more forgiving and far more versatile...

I really liked that set up, some kind of mini Megathron. Change the MFS for EANM if you feel like it, and you might want to change the ladar to a cap booster if you forsee neuts being used to render your blasters useless..

Both ships put out 650+ DPS depending on skills and implants. The Myrm tanks about 20% more dps, but it costs considerably more isk as well. Also, these are both gang setups.

Good point, don't fly either much and hadn't thought of that.

I hate to be the one to point it out, especially coming from a sniggwaffe! But Lader ECCM is a minmatar ECCM... Gallante use Magnetometric.

Thanks. I found this helpful. Although, why must people use acronyms suchas FOTM? I had to google that. You saved yourself a second, but caused me many.

myrm is one of the best bc's
but a brutix isn't half bad, utilize it's bonuses like this
1 med rep, dc II, three hardeners
cap booster, mwd, scram, web
biggest guns possible.
2 cheap hybrid damage rigs "SPEED + GANK = SPANK... Spank that ***** up" |

I find the Brutix can fit very comfortably in the small gang scenario. IMO it's best flown as a pure dps boat and because of this it's gonna sacrifice a great deal of tank and will need the support, and in this respect I believe the Mrym will have the advantage of being able to last longer when solo or under heavy fire, but will have less dps.
the Brutix is also one of the funnest ships to fly! Just get your target, hit the MWD, and charge into a 1000km orbit with all guns blazing like a mad cow carrying 7 sub machine guns! And hope you don't die!
