I hope the people posting in this thread realize these are hardware and/or driver issues and have nothing to do with eve.
If your machine reboots or blue screens, it's not a user level application like eve. It simply isn't possible in Windows 2k/XP/Vista.
You have a driver issue or failing hardware, nothing more nothing less.
CTD is different of course, but is still likely a driver issue.

Ok, now I want you to go in your Nvidia Control Panel and turn off GPU PhysX Acceleration. Then I want you to go into nHancer, find your Eve Online profile, and un-check mark "Profile can be activated manually". Next, restore the default global profile and then activate Driver Defaults within nHancer. Now go back to the Eve Online profile and set the SLI mode to single, go to the Compatibility tab and un-check mark all overrides, go to the Optimizations tab and un-check mark all overrides, and then under Enhancements un-check mark all overrides except for Anti-Aliasing. Set the AA mode to 16x Multisampling, turn off transparency AA, turn on gamma correction, and then un-check mark "enhance in-game AA setting" if it's check marked.
This will give you a very bare bones gfx profile for Eve that should prevent any driver issues from rebooting your computer when you play Eve. You say that you manually activate the Eve profile. Well, for all intents and purposes, don't do that EVER. It doesn't work in the same way that the built-in task schedulers within the Nvidia Control Panel and programs like RivaTuner do it. Keep in mind that the latest version of nHancer wasn't built and tested for Forceware 180 and that there are inherent compatibility issues precisely because of this. Just stay away from manual profile activation until you find a solution to the reboots.

That fix seems to be HOLDING i think it was something with EVE QR + SLI rebooting the computer.
EVERYONE ELCE try doing what this guy said. make sure you export ur profiles first so you can save them. ___________________

YES IT IS HOLDING Great
Everyone Turn off SLI For EVE ONLY for now intill CCP fixes this issue First just try the SLI mode to SINGLE if it still reboots after that then try the other steps in the QUOTES in the above message

that dosent fix the Problem. I have the CTD¦s to, and i have only a ATI Radeon HD 4850. SO this is not al SLI problem only. Yesterday 15 CTD¦s in 6 hours, that is not funny. My PC run in all other Aplication¦s and Games 100% stabel.
This problem is there since the last patch.

The SLI fix doesn't really work for me, as i'm running an ATI card...not an Nvidia. Crossfire doesn't really enter into it either, as I'm only running one card. I think it's really sad that CCP doesn't even address this as an issue, even though there's 2 pages of people saying basically the same thing is happening to them since Monday. It has to have something to do with the patch....maybe it is a driver-related issue, but monday's patch triggered it.
I've tried my DirectX drivers, my video drivers, uninstalled all my previous versions of catalyst, uninstalled SP3, reinstalled SP3, even updated my sound drivers for ****s and giggles, I replaced a VGA fan thinking it was overheating (it was running too hot, but that didn't fix EVE), I've uninstalled EVE twice and downloaded fresh clients, my roommate is experiencing a similar issue when he tries to play for extended periods of time.
Tonight i'm going to pick up my Windows XP disc, backup all the files I want to keep and reformat my C:. Reinstall all the drivers and software, download a fresh EVE client and try to play. If it crashes, that's goodbye EVE. This game has been nothing but buggy ever since I started to play in the Fall.

Well, I went a step further. Since I'm sure multiple instant reboots can't leave a disk in good condition, bought another one. Installed Windows XP 64, Drivers, and Eve. No Joy.

NTFS is a logging filesystem, so it doesn't hurt the filesystem or the physical disk at all, actually.
Powering off disks or hitting them with a hammer while they're writing is what kills them, not your machine resetting.
So after a clean install, updated drivers, a new disk, et all, you clearly have a hardware problem. You might want to try swapping the memory out.

CTDs or Reboots? the SLI Fix (or the other steps) is what fixes your computer rebooting
BTW Since i tried this fix, i STILL have not gotton any crashes or reboots at all YEEEY!!! ___________________

Daniel, now that everything's been stabilized I want you to go back into nHancer and set the Eve Online profile to use the different SLI modes one at a time. Don't change any other settings or touch the global profile, along with leaving "This profile can be activated manually" un-check marked. Remember, forcing a specific SLI mode within nHancer is an automatically-applied setting. No manual activation is needed, so just restart the client when changing modes.
First try the Force Split-Frame Rendering SLI mode and then move on to the others. See if any (or all/none) of them work, and by work I mean being able to log-in to the client without rebooting. Do this just to make sure SLI really was/is the culprit, because I honestly don't think it is. (in the general sense)

I have this problem too, my motherboard is a MSI MS-7320
chipset is a nVidia nForce 680i SLI SPP
I did submit a petition but they haven't been helpful.
I noticed it immediately that eve did it, i started the eve client (one client) and boom, computer freezes and crashes. It has been happening randomly since the first time, at random places, it started happening all the sudden and the ONLY change between it not happening and it starting to happen is that i installed the BOINC client (NOT RUNNING). |

This has happened two times for me, once with sisi client and once with classic client. No problem in any other game and boots happened when i was logging in, not inside game. I changed Present Interval to Interval One, somebody suggested that might help. Ill report if it boots after the change

Hey Daniel, theres a new nvidia driver available (181.22) with some SLI fixes and a newer physx driver. This might solve your issues and no need of use of all that 3rd party software. Makes me shiver guys, how well intented it may be. __________________________________

I have had the rebooting also, very often only playing eve online. I petitioned it. I should also mention, I multi-client when I play. Apparently, multi client + SLI results in bad things happening. Any of you guys multi-boxing too?
I'm going to be disabling SLI and trying again, but I'm under the impression that yeah, disabling the SLI for eve online will 'fix' things.
CCP, please please let me take advantage of my 2nd 9800 GT and make the game SLI compatible, or if you have a suggestion to dual box with SLI, I'm all ears. I'm going to try separate directories of Eve before I totally give up on SLI + multiboxing.
