Dear Carebears,
I have solved all of your gank problems. You absolutely NEVER have to worry about losing a ship again. This fit will save your hulk every time, and only requires one PG implant to fit.
My fit is this...
1x MN Afterburner II
1x EM Ward FIeld II
1x Kinetic Deflection Field II
1x Thermic Dissipation field II
1x 400mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
1x Damage Control II
1x Medium Trimark Armor Pump II
1x Medium Core Defense Field Purger II
Rest assured, this sig tanks AND armor tanks AND shield tanks. You can send 5 mil isk for every hulk you fit like this for using my idea. Thanks! |

This however goes in against the natural greed of the average person, they would rather have 1 warp core stab and 3 cargo extenders.

What is the EHP on this fit? Curious to know, don't have any EFT on this laptop. Triple tank kinda has a thing going for it now. |

22,000 ehp.
It has an AB though, so it's made more for sig tanking. You have to orbit those asteroids while you use the mining drones. |

Yep, it is perfectly safe, you'll never need to undock as it can't do anything without the mining lasers.

Most hulk gankers use high alpha fits, high alpha means less tracking and more range, which means sig tank is best tank. |

Which is why I don't use high alpha. I head to 0.5 systems where me and a buddy or two use our thrashers with *shockface* autocannons. We all overheat, and it works great.
High alpha is for salvo fire in nullsec on the enemy carrier, or for ganking someone's hauler/freighter. It's overkill for a hulk, unless you're doing it solo (in which case get friends).

22K EHP is a joke. It took me less than 2 minutes on EFT to dope out a Hulk fit that has over 30K.

Gankers who take out someone in a belt are at point blank range.
Actually, it's only a shield tanker when you fit it to survive null-sec rats. But in high-sec, where every little EHP counts when it comes to surviving alpha damage or dps from a suicide ganker, mixed tank is best tank. The OP is correct to assume signature radius plays a role in mitigating damage taken, but it's marginal at best and not always reliable.
But you are correct about the range of certain gankers.

Based on the OPs suggestions, I've thought up an even more powerful mining configuration that would end up costing the same.
* EHP: 40k+ (without a single tanking module)
* Mining Yield equivalent to the OPs suggestion.
* Much less appealing to gankers.
* Will require gankers to lose at least 8 ships to completely destroy it.

A: You can use a max yield fit when you have security and an orca boosting. This is a solo fit.

A: , Not at all... Like others have said before in this thread.  's can find ways to gank anything, anywhere. Don't get cocky and assume anything. This is EVE after all.

A: You can achieve this tank in a little under a year with perfect mining skills. It only takes around 13 million sp to have exhumers 5 with all tech 2 mining crystals and perfect refining skills. Either dedicate the time, or run low. But don't say F%#@ that and run nothing at all.
To those brave miners out there, boldly adventuring into safe space, no need to D-scan, or care to watch local in high sec. I salute you for being gankable. Happy Hulkageddon!
