1. I currently fly coromont, and use upgrades to improve my shields, but i looked at some builds for later ships, and peopel use hardeners for armor? why do that? cause if shields dont go down, armor doesnt get hurt... so why do people ugprade armor? and armor doesnt even recharge :(

Some ships have more lows then mids and thus have to armor tank... And sometimes such has its advantages.
IE you can armor tank and have a full set of tackling gear in the mids or for missions you can use the mids for cap rechargers.
But in your case, your caldari so you shield tank .

I'm going to give you some benefit of doubt and assume you aren't a troll.
1. There are armor hardeners and shield hardeners. Ie, shield tankers use shield hardeners and ...well ,you get the point.
2. A Cormorant has 1 low slot. I can guarantee you they aren't armor tanking it unless they're just running a damage control for more hit points in general, or an armor plate as a buffer.
3. Sooner or later your shields will go down. Its inevitable. Only Caldari and half the Minamatar ships use shields as their primary defense and thus concentrate on it. Every thing else uses armor... so they fit for armor.
4. Quite alot of armor tankers beef up their armor plates and hardeners with out a rep. Yes, it wont recharge on its own. Its useless in PvE. In PvP it lets you drop loads of damage and worry about less mods / management, and just hope you have the massive buffer of hit points to kill him first. Its a valid and working tactic.
5. Welcome to Eve, do some home work.

If you look at the ships skills, it will say (except for Caldari) a percent bonus to armor reps and such... use all the bonuses to your advantage!

The Gallente and Amarr armor tank, while the Minmatar split their ships between the two and the Caldari shield tank.
Why armor tank? Well, here's a little breakdown:
Shield tanks: Pro: - Naturally recharges. - If your tank fails, you have an armor buffer to get the heck out. - Use mid slots, so you can fit more damage mods - Have excellent active (capacitor-using) tanks - Some ships can also fit great passive (no cap) tanks - Active shield tanking provides instant boost-on-demand - Active shield tanks repair much faster than armor tanks - Active shield tanks (usually) replenish more hp per boost.
Con: - Active shield tanks are much less efficient/use more capacitor per hp repaired. - Shield tanks require use of mid slots, thus decreasing tackle and electronic warfare capabilities. - Passive shield tanks require both mid AND low slots. - Shield tanks have no passive omni-resist (all resists) module. - Shield tanks can rarely fit as effective a buffer tank (relying on raw hp and resists) as an armor tanker. - Increasing hp (shield extenders) increases vulnerability to weapons fire (signature radius).
Armor tanks: Pro: - Require less capacitor to boost. - Have naturally higher resists. - Can fit passive omni-resist modules (EANM) - Can fit more raw hp with armor plates. - Does not use mid slots - Armor active tanks are more cap efficient, armor buffer tanks use no cap at all.
Con: - If your tank fails, you're in structure. - Armor hp do not recharge. - Armor tanking does not provide recharge-on demand...there's a bit of time delay. - Armor tanking uses low slots, which also house damage mods.
