I have the same problem, using an 8800 gt, this seems to be the problem - nvidia drivers. other threads confirm this. Incidently i have 5.1 surround sound and this has been speculated to be a problem... do you?

Also having the crash and reboot.
I have an 8800gts running XP Pro. God damn it, this really isn't persuading me to use the $9.99 re-sub deal that came with the 5 free days.

well i had the exact same problem and it was due to the sound card. i fixed it by opening up my reatek audio manager then clicking on the audio I/O then changing the channels to headphones and it fixed the problem for me. instead of compleatly crashing my comp it gives me a .3 of a second or so lag spike but it works fine now im soooo happy.
