If you have a corporation that has standings of 8.02 to the Gallente Federation and 7.20 to the Minmatar Republic and added someone to the corporation with lower standings to Gallente and Minmatar (0 and 2.11 respectively) what would happen to my overall corporation standings?
I'm assuming they will go down...but how fast and to what standing?
I'm concerned about losing the ability to place POSes and POS structures. I currently have one operating in High-Sec and don't want to lose the ability to add modules to the POS or have to take it down.
Any advice would be helpful.

it will gradually level out to the average of you and the other member.
edit: 5.0 standing to anchor pos in 0.5, 7.0 standing in 0.7 system, in case u didnt know.
also, you can run high level missions with the member in your gang (and finish the mission with the gang option) to boost him.

AFAIK they changed the mechanic. Now the corp standing will be calculated only with members which have been in the corp for 7 days or longer.
So, after 7 days, the standing will be the median of all members, including the new, lower ones, not decaying slowly.

OK, I'd like to check on my understanding of corp standings here..maybe you guys/gals can clarify for me.
I understand that the corp standings will drop and level out to the average between the characters in 7 days.
So here is the example.
Corp has the following standings--
8.02 Gallente Federation
7.20 Minmatar Republic
the new character I want to add has the following standings.
0.00 Gallente Federation
2.11 Minmatar Republic
The question is the Gallente Standings....since he has 0.0 to the Gallente Federation will he be added to the average for them...or is he added into the average across all factions just because he has standings to anyone.
I other words will the corp standings drop to..
8.02 Gallente Federation (8.02+0= 8.02/1 If he won't count)
or
8.02+0= 8.02/2=4.01 if he counts due to having ANY standings.
4.65 Minmatar Republic (7.2+2.11= 9.31/2=4.655)
Sorry if this is confusing but I'm just trying to make sure I know before I join him - since I'll want to put up a larger POS first for future expansion.

They'll be calculated individually. The system will average out the faction standing of everyone in the corp to the Gallente Federation, and adjust to that. It'll do another average to the Minmatar Republic, and adjust to that.

No, not correct. The new mechanism now counts members with 0.0 standings so your corps standings to gallante will be 4.01 after 7 days with that member in your corp.

When did that go into effect, what day?
I only ask since I already have 3 0.0 standings members in this corp - and have for the past 6 months, and the corp faction standings have not changed.

It only counts characters who show standinds for a given corp / faction / etc.
For example, I have 30 member, only 4 have ever run missions for an ammatarian corp. Thus the corp standing only counts those 4 members.
However, it's practically impossible to have no set faction standings for an empire faction if you've ever run a storyline.

You're absolutely right - I'm an idiot. I misread the standings list. I have 1.94 to the Gallente Federation. 
Oh well, guess I wait until I can upgrade the tower then join and suffer the standings loss. Bah.

anyone with a -null- faction standing, and an expired aacount will not be counted towards faction standing averages.
every 7 days all members of the corp with a + or - standings will be averaged out, this will be the new corp faction standings.
Once a tower is dropped, faction standings don't matter anymore. You can add and remove modules as needed without the standings.
However, to update the tower to a different size or race, you will need the required standings again.

Note that a standing which shows as 0.0 is a very low standing which gets rounded to 0.0. That's different from having no standing (in which case it just doesn't show up).
