I have never seen anyone deny that scams don't happen in real life some should stop taking the happy pills. Or maybe stop posting and start posting again when they hit puberty.

Wonderful!
Evidence that scammers should be arrested!

For a billion isk, I will provide a comprehensive written guide to avoiding scams in Eve. As a bonus, it can also be used to avoid scams in RL too.
-- There's a simple difference between kinky and perverted. Kinky is using a feather to get her in the mood. Perverted is using the whole chicken. All this has happened before and will happen again |

C/ However the recent crackdown on the moon mining exploit has broken his RMT business, causing his ponzi sceme to crash like a house of cards. This led to his secondary securities network to fail in RL.
Such is the power of a CCP banstick.

No one denied that scams happen in RL. However, the difference in consequences. In RL, Maddoff is arrested, will face trial and possibly molestation in jail. In EvE, he could sit in station all day, go to an npc corp, use the cash to buy a new char and move on. Scamming RL --->Consequences. Scamming in EvE ----> No Consequences -------------------

Pft, you're thinking of it all wrong. In RL you can't be a vigilante. In Eve, you can! You are the consequences. It's a lot more personally satisfying, I think.

I have never read more useless news report in my life. Someone is actually getting paid for this?
Most of the RL scams are usually legal. Religions for example who promise you something that you will get only after you die are the oldest scams in existence.

Please enlighten us all as to how you would enact your revenge in game?
Please do.
...scammed, isk moved to an unknown alt, main that scammed you stays docked...the scammer does what ever is needed to profit or enact another scam to gain more off those that have a delusion of being able to get revenge if scammed...
Rule one in Eve, trust NOBODY, N O B O D Y ! Because you WILL be scammed.
In RL I could hunt you down, knowing who you are, and 'do something' to ensure you would never scam again...RL scammers can suffer, or 'worse' , i.e.they take risk.
lesson to be learned...Eve scammers do not take any risk, and CCP will not 'fix' scams, Criminals rule, and F the ex-ccp-customer-that-was-scammed.

HOW TO NOT GET SCAMMED
1) If it sounds to good to be true. It's a scam.
2) Nothing is free. Ever.
3) Yes, she's your cousin.

I might as well state the obvious and say he could not have done it alone. I reckon a good portion of those august names invested on a "don't ask, don't tell" basis in something they knew they did not understand and for their own safety did not want to understand, in the belief that they were the beneficiaries of insider information thanks to the man's connections. Now they get to play the victim and (haha) ask for taxpayer funded compensation pleading consideration of their weak capital bases and glossing over the little matter of hedge funds being a weakly regulated investment activity for which protection is not provided. I am sure some way will be contrived to refill corporate pockets from our own.
Fancy that, the guy stole $50bn of taxpayers' money.
