If the technologie in the EvE universe so advanced is that they can place a password on a secure can so only you can open it.
Why not use the same technology to put a password on the entrance of Capital ships ???
Dunno ....maybe its silly to be able to lock an investement of 800 mill+

i say put passwors on all ships.... and if its not docked or in the safty of a POS bubble your ship takes steady damage for 1 weekt wich point i pops due to abandoning ship so long in the riggors of space

Edited by: Shaka Quatuic on 15/12/2008 16:55:46 matter of fact, this should be possible on ANY ship other than noobships or shuttles. we really should be able to anchor them anywhere in a system, set a password, and leave them there in case we need them - subject to the 30-day rule of course (though that might be too long). this would certainly be risky anywhere except at a POS however, as anchored ships should still be able to be scanned out and destroyed while the owner is away.
the password should also apply to ships left in POS maintenance arrays. too many ships get 'lost' that way - at least having a password is some measure of security, as corp members with the necessary roles would still be able to move such 'padlocked' ships into carriers for transport. the password would merely be an obstacle to outright theft.

I was meaning any ship that cant use normal jumpgates. But ..it should be possible on any ship ...excluding starter frigs and shuttles.
Its a simple solution for a massive problem

there is no problem with ships not having passwords but it would be convienient to go to mine belt andmine with you combat ship there and if you get a pesky rat your mine ship cant kill the combat ship will do it. i find moving 2 shipssame time an issue too cuz someone can steal one of your ships its not manditory nor is it a problem but it is a handy feature i would use in future im most positive

I like this idea alot .... But once you exit a ship all modules will be de-activated. Otherwise you could chain mine. But a simple password to close your ships doors , i am all for it. Hell..i can lock my car ...why cant i lock my spaceship.

I am all for putting passwords on supercaps (should be hackable with some very specialized skills) but anything smaller is just pointless. If you want to leave it somewhere nobody can get to it then dock, otherwise you'll have to trust the people with access to your POS I'm afraid.
If it becomes possible in eve to leave ships lying around in space without the risk of them dissapearing then mahoosive lag will ensue as everyone starts leaving ships and anchored locked cans full of ammo etc in safespots knowing that their stuff won't get stolen.

I say make it a module.. and allow the anchoring of ships in pos shield boundries.

because my ship has lasers, salvage tackle and some mysterious device that can magically move stuff from 1.5km away into my hold, and if you arn't in your ship to defend against them, ill chop your bloody doors off. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |

Well in that way you would not enter the spaceship....but simply destroy it. And thats another matter A ship thats parked somewhere and would get attacked ..should send an evemail to the owner stating that someting is going really wrong and assistance is needed.
But then again ....maybe is the EvE universe not ready for logical solutions for simple problems.

i wanna lock all ships but like a pos bubble it should require you to onyly input the password once long as you dont dock up or leave system or disconnectso with password set you can still hop about any and all ships untill you leave system space in any way i will lock my orca and a hulk and a combat ship so my cora sith there giving me lots of cargo space to place the ore my hulk mines then if i getsome heavy rats orget bored i drop a can and mine and once i see can flip pop into combat ship and kill then hop back into hulk without ever docking lol
