Whenever i run eve the whole time the program is running (even the login screen) my video card fan is running at full blast making more noise than with any other game.
In-game i get about 70 FPS with high settings.
Lowering the settings does not effect the video card fan.
Even modern first person shooters do not make my video card behave this way.
The card is an X1950xtx and the processor is a e6700 core 2 duo. 4 gig of ram.
I would be greatful for any advice/solution.

Yes. I had the same effect with my 8800 GTX. I fixed it by changing the interval from immediate to one at the grafic setup (by doing this you enable vsync).
Hopefully this will help you as well ;-)

That did help a little with the fan noise but it dropped my frames per second down to 15 (yikes!)

Thats bad.... you can increase the performance with vsync on by enabling tripple buffering. You will find that with your video card settings not with eve.

Edited by: Lrrp on 15/12/2008 22:31:02 Curious but when I was looking up problems with ATI cards I read that SP-3 of win XP may cause some graphics problems.

O .. m .. g .. !
Thanks so much :)
I¦m running EVE on a Laptop with 8800M GTX, and a Core2Duo 2.2GHz CPU, 4 Gig RAM etcetc
And it was TOTALLY overheating (80¦ Celsius !! and more) with just one Client running, with Medium Details on Premium.
And i can play Crysis on High and every other modern FPS and stuff on this ... now i tried this Fix, i just set the Settings to "Interval Default", and it¦s fixed.
Can run 2 Clients, both Premium, windowed, and get normal heat on my system. Sooooo glad right now, every time i played EVE i feared there would be a huge *puff* and smoke, and no Laptop anymore ;)

Just confirming this is happening to my x800 as well. Old I know but it should be able to handle eve classic like it has done for ages.
