Hi,
can anybody tell me if there is a mid sized freighter available? All I can see in the Gallente skill tree/market is the iteron class (up to 15000 m3 cargo for <1mill) and the big freighter (750000 m3 for ~1 Billion ISK).
Seems like there should be something in between.
Thanks

The only thing (for high sec) that falls between an Obelisk and a rigged Itty 5 (for gallente) in terms of capacity is either an Anshar or an Orca. The rorqual also does but being a true cap, it can't enter highsec.

I think CCP has deemed it unfair to introduce a low-cost halfway point between industrials and freighters, despite people continuing to ask for it. Personally I'd wholeheartedly endorse the addition of such a ship under one condition only: minimal HP. Make it an easy suicide gank target waiting to happen and people will only use it when they absolutely feel safe or if they have an escort.
In the meantime the Orca has a larger cargohold than an industrial, and the JFs despite their cost have a very large cargohold and the ability to use a jump drive.

Thanks for the explanations. Didn't even think to look for a cargohold rig. Cheers.

Edited by: Kurlieu on 16/12/2008 19:37:33 While I would like to see something in the 100,000 M^3 range I don't think it's going to happen.
You can easily get an Iteron V to over 25,000 M^3 though. If you're not interested in carrying one large object, you can get them to hold up to 34,000 M^3, by partitioning the hold.

I dont get why they made the JF smaller than the regular Freighter. you would think the JF would be larger, since you are jumping it you would want to be able to move as much as you can in one jump. _____________________ *warp drive acti...wait, where are we going?*

So can the Itty 5
The rigged itty-5 is the largest cargo possible short of the orca etc. The amarr DST is a close second. --- Sig Starts Here --- Lord Haur - Imperial Academy Logistical Support

With T1 cargohold rigs it goes up to 38.5km3 without using containers, which is the significant figure unless you're hauling for miners (as couriers usually are in containers which can't be put in other containers)
Orca is intended as a mid-point cost wise. Don't be put off by the current cost, that will come down, should eventually settle to about half the cost of a freighter, and rigged will hold up to 97.5km3 or 57km3 if u fit it for speed instead, still more than enough to handle the largest courier (that's not counting the ship bay).
