Scenario:
- I'm going to attempt to write my own Media Center software (or at least the front end GUI) because hell, I have no friends and nothing better to do with my time.
Experience:
- I'm a graphic designer with a good grasp on OOP. I will also be brushing up on my C++. I am coding this on my coffee shop chick magnet (macbook pro) running Leopard. This media center may eventually run on a PC running Windows or Linux.
Ultimate Question:
- What's the best solution for coding smooth, sleek, and secxsay user interfaces? I want this to be full screened with 2D animation (think the PSP or PS3 dashboard). Should I be exploring OpenGL? Are there libraries that will help me do this?
P.S.
If you suggest Flash I'll pose an empty threat to pod your ass.

look at how ID did it in Doom 3.
you'd have to google research, but what you're looking for is largely similar to what they did.
edit: i think they did it in c++. so it should be right down your alley

hi, have a look at some avalon/wpf .NET examples[/url] 1 and here. pardon the age of the links (2006) but was just a quick google for examples for you.

Does it work? I have a MacBook but have never taken it out. I also have a Gibson SG (in nice Heritage Cherry). Which do you think will look better in a cafe? Or should I take both?
